Infected Mushroom - Cities of the Future (pg. 4)

the way I see it is that IM are the epitome of music evolution. since the days before "the gathering" they whipped psy trance that defied realism . "classical mushroom" i thought was unsurpassable, until I saw them doing the bp emppire live rendition. Converting vegetarians toook a while to get into and was way different to what I knew from them, although it still contained original elements of the classic electronic synth they are so well known for. As far as cities of the future goes.....come on guys...its a radio edit!! Go and download some of the other samples that have on offer on their site (beauty and the beat, bombat etc). Musicians are born to be experimential otherwise they never progress with the constant "hungry for music" nature of the party animal. ( you and me!)

I grew up on club trance, and its in my heart, but i will settle for IM's versatilty, pure crunching energy and their abilty to deliver something completly different and on the next level, over other Djs. The mere fact that their productions are live, gives that sense of freshness. Heres and old interview I dug up. Go look into their minds...

Why are others not following them? I think it sounds great to combine a bassline and guitar riffs.(me former heavy metal addict)

Skazi does a lot of it.

i hate electric guitars in psy. it totally cheeses it up.

to the big fan of IM...you need to listen to a large dose of Posford. immediately. Download The Lone Deranger and Tales of the Inexpressible.

well, about 30% of the psytrance from israel nowadays comes complete with guitars.... so, to the guy who's looking for some more guitars in his psytrancwe,, just listen to some more stuff.

I think this tune is a BLAST, one of the best IM songs ever, and i've listened to almost all of them. I'd give this one 9/10.

I'd say this is a crazy crazy choon. After the buildup, the climax takes you for quite a trip.

Crazy, but yet I dont love it as much as it's being hyped on this thread. I think the song encorperates a few too many elements in parts. There's some 'flow' issues. but that's just me

wow what an ugly tune.

the start is so ugly, vocals are horrible.

from 2.22 i liked it till.2.47 then the ugly vocals with ugly lyrics came back.

now i don't hate psy, i like it, but this sux :p

Chemical Jesus- Mind twist owns this tune :D. his psy rox.

to enjoy IM or any psycodelic tunes its an adquired taste. I got involved in EDM because of these guys. Yeah the older productions are way more better but this one is not what i concider cheeese..
maybe the vocals need to be more synthetized.. but damm those screams and efects are signature for IM.

two thumbs up for the tune.:thepirate

How quick some people are to think they know the whole story when they have only read the opening paragraph, know little of the end, and nothing of the middle.

That being said, I'm going to keep personal insults out of this -- I'm not here to disrespect anyone -- and talk about the music :)

I'm listening to this now:

-can't say the heavily effected (vocodered?) vocals do it for me (upon repeated listens you psychologically get used to them), but I can hear their appeal on a big system played really LOUD

-would make a nice soundtrack for a crazy Flash animation

-there's some unique effecting I like, and the structure is certainly trademark IM. How it builds up at about 2:22 in and explodes, is really exciting!

-those crazy riffs at the end are nice and squiggly, it's like nu-acid or something

-I have some problems with the flow issue too (how it breaks @ 2:08), but on the flipside, it's nice this track is so dynamic -- even for a radio edit

-unconventional structure, good stuff

-I like the rocky bits, like the guitar (synth'ed?) at the end

-again, as it unfolds, the niceness of the variety becomes apparent

The question you have to ask yourself is:

Could anyone else except for Infected Mushroom have made this, and if they did, would they run the risk of being an IM-soundalike?

And:

Even you didn't like, it, is it memorable? (I.e. one of those songs you loathe but can't get out of your head.)

Something to ponder.

In a James Lipton by proxy of Will Ferrell voice, I have to say that what you said is: "Unfettered, exquisite geeenius...!" ;)
