Hi.
I dont know much about these synthsizers so i would like to ask a few things. I've played piano for many years, now i would like to buy a synthsizer for use at home (studio) - for electronic music, and for playing in a band. Can i play sounds like piano/organ on virus/nord too, not just electronic sounds? Do i have to be connected to the computer? And what is the difference betwen virus and nord?
Thanks a lot |

virus a bit more analog/warmer I guess download some samples on their sites and judge for yourself !
Organ will be possible with analog synthesis but no piano..
you'll need an s&s synth for that such as the jv 1080/motif/triton, these work with samples.. |

it is possible to get some piano-like tunes out of a virus C .... but the sound of a real piano u can only get with things like a motif ... the piano-sound of a korg triton isn't that good either ... so if you want the best synth for piano -> motif ... organ is also possible with a motif ..
the virus's organ sound isn't that bad either ... but it remains a synth-sound ... |

| hey cheggy |
| If you buy the Virus KC, then you can plug in another rack synth into it and use the keys on the KC to play the piano module. |

| which you can also do with the kb version of the nord lead. Midi is the protocol that connects them. If you're a bit lucky you can also use the kc or nord as controller cause lots of synths use the same cc's (at least for the most common functions) |

| The Nord Lead 2 has one of the best Organ sounds...it can recreate a Hammond B3 with percision..and you can add tremello too. Factory presets show this off as well. Piano sounds well not a grand but electric piano sounds are quite good with the Lead 2. I haven't played with the Virus much but I'm sur ethe organ sounds can come outta that as well. I do recamend that if your goinf after organ sounds go after the Nord. It can also do some nice Prophet 5 sounds as well. |

Did you try the virus ? I bet it has some good organ sounds too, in fact about every decent va has some. And every synth with lfo can do tremolo. |

| yes this is true but the sound architecture of the Nord is much different than any VA you'll find out there...it sounds nothing like the Virus or any other VA for that matter. I'm not saying the Virus is bad or anything..I actually want one. I think i might have not said what I wanted to say right. I meant that the Nord Lead 2 has some amazing factory patches of Organs with tremello. |

yes that explains more, I thought you meant that the other va's cannot do a decent emulation which is of course not true. I never played around for a long time with a nord lead so I can't tell.
@ Nec did you find anything usefull with my reply on your pm? If you need other advice just shoot. |
