What is (synth) rack used for? What can i do with it?

| 19" Rack mounted synth module - doesn't have a keyboard. Used with a midi keyboard or a sequencer. Basically a synth in a box! |

| Above is true and generally, the rack mount version doesn't have as many dials and buttons as the bigger version. There are of course some exceptions like the jp-8080, waldorf Q. Fine if you work from presets like a lot do, but not so fun if you want to twiddle. |

these are called desktops.
In fact if you can find your way thru the matrixes, it's not that much of a pain.. Of course I'd like a desktop better but then again I'm on a tight budget and my space is limited (and allready more then full). It's about where your priority is.. if you want a button per function stick away from it. |
