I can understand what club DJ's(spin at clubs) and mobile DJ's(work like contractors, spinning at parties and stuff) are like, but what about battle DJ's?

Turntablists are battle DJ's. They use scratching and tricks to produce different types of sounds. They usually pick a song to play while the use a scratch record to make the scratches so they don't screw their other good vinyl up (smart, eh?). Battle DJ's compete to get their name out there, much like club DJ's do. Funkmaster Flex and DJ Scribbles are prominent battle DJ's (or were), the X-Ecutioners are also a good example of battle DJ's. Hope that helped

Thanks for the info. And yup, it helped. You win d4 pr1z3!

the term battle is also used because of the aggresiveness of the style, ie. in "battle" mixers. you might get the idea that these mixers are to be used only in situations where you have two turntablists competing, and for other situations is not needed, whereas battle mixers are a must for turntablists at all times, be it solo or a versus.

Plus TT's can be set up battle style. A battle mixer is one that makes very quick cuts unlike most trance mixers where we are doing long fade ins to the song.

This is a little off topic but I saw the Exacutioners at Virgin Megastore in Chicago yesterday.
