Hello,

I must say that sample manufacturers are making it very hard on customers due to the vast amount of formats. In my opinion there should be only wav or include wavs for each format. In that case, a customer has more freedom of what sampler he wants to use.
There are sample format converters that can convert most samples but this adds much more work and sometimes doesn't produce good results.

However, I am mostly unhappy with these sound bank formats that are encrypeted and have copyrighted algorithms that disallow any conversion tool to convert them. I am talking here in particular about Refills and NKS (Native Instruments Kontakt/Kompakt/Intakt Banks). I have talked to some people from few sample converter softwares and they said that these formats will most likely never be convertable. So therefore you are stuck with only one or two samplers that will read that format.

I know that sample manufacturers have different formats in order to attract customers but I think it does the opposite. If they all stuck with one or two sample formats or always included the most common format which is wave then more customers would buy their products because they can then use their favorite software, instead of being forced.
