So here is the story:
For the last X# of months/years I have had 3 hard drives and a CD rom inextricably linked via bootrecords and so I cant ever swap anythin new in.
I finally decided to change all that today.
So I threw all the backup I needed onto my 40 gig Zen Nomad MP3 player.
then formatted everything
then plugged it in.
Only to realize I lost my @#$!@# CD that installs the damn thing. So After multiple hours of searching through my approximate 1000+ cds I didnt find it. So I go to Creatives site. No help. the proggie that installs it is available ONLY by CD which ONLY comes with the products when it is purchased.
Handy.
So then I try to do an autoupdate via their site. It says my player is corrupted. I can still listen to music and browse the files, so it isnt terminal corruption.
What I NEED to do for the autoupdate is flash the firmware. Which involves an OS reinstall on the player. I remember trying it a year ago and it not working and me having to reload all my . Plus I dont even know if with the new firmware that the autoupdate will even give me the utilities I need to install it properly. So its a potential TOTAL loss of all my from the last 8 years for no gain, but it MIGHT let me get on.
Or I could do...what? I emailed them but Ill have to wait for a response which will probably tell me to try the ing autoupdate!

| ty to hear that man, but this is a music site, so maybe somebody has the same player and can send you a cd image or the files over the net, don't worry about it, it might take some time, but you will get it all back. |

iPod Update
heh, shoulda gone with apple ;) firmware updates are free on their site.
Call the company, if you purchased it within a year from now, you should be fine. If they have any sort of customer service they will send you the update/flash on disk. |

With reference to your email, pardon me, but let me check with you. Have you tried a reinstallation using the product installation CD? |

Making progress:
I had to unzip an .exe file from their website that was for a different player then install a hidden file in there and link the .inf file to the player after going into msconfig and doing a selective startup and disabling some drivers.
Then I had to upgrade the file I installed with a new patch.
So now I have mediasource. The program recognizes the player and im transferring all of my music off of it right now.
in a! right?
ohh still cant access the data. The most important piece of this whole thing. STill not recognized as an external drive and mediasource doesnt recognize data files!
