Sorry if this has already been posted,
but in case it hasnt i got quote from Sasha that might interest you all:

“In about three weeks time I’m ditching vinyl and CDs to go out on the road using my computer and that’s going to allow me to mix anything with everything,” said Sasha.

“I’m now actively distancing myself from that progressive sound that was previously attached to me, because it really doesn’t hold much interest for me anymore,” he revealed.

That sucks. I respected him because of his style and his mastery in that genre. I definitely would want to see him spin on vinyl and not some boring computer show like (no offense, because I think he's a musical genius too) BT. Oh well, times are changing. If hes going to be putting on his show with a computer though I am not going to go see him.

came from Skrufff.com a more than valid source

DJ Sasha dismissed reports on the web this week that he been angry when a record he ripped off the decks struck a girl in the face, telling Skrufff that he’d actually been larking around, when a dirty record got stuck in its groove.

“I was two thirds into my set, the place was going off and I was enjoying myself when the record started jumping,” said Sasha.

“By the third time it happened, the whole crowd was cheering and I ripped it off and threw it up in the air in an overly theatrical way, certainly not in frustration. I was just being a bit silly and theatrical and I guess the record boomeranged onto something and hit this poor girl on the head.”

The incident happened at Cardiff’s Time Flies event, and effectively finished the party there and then, though Sasha was also keen to refute allegations that he’d been subsequently manhandled from the decks by bouncers.

“Her boyfriend grabbed hold of me, thinking that I’d thrown a glass at her or something and took me backstage and I went into this room with him to see this poor girl there with blood all over her face,” he continued.

“After I’d seen that I was freaked out, I didn’t know how the girl was and I didn’t want her to think I didn’t give a (care-slang ed), by going back on and playing. I was flipped out by the whole thing.”

Sasha said he’s since been in contact with the girl who’s now fully recovered and will be entertaining her and her boyfriend at his next Fabric gig in July. Coincidentally he’ll also have ditched using vinyl altogether by then as well as much of the music he used to play, he said.

“I think it’s time to move on, maybe I’m looking back to ‘85 instead of ’95.” He added.

sasha will be using ableton live. it is the same software application that BT uses for his dj sets.

from http://www.djsasha.com/djtimes.htm :

DJ Times: You said last week that Ableton Live 3 is having a huge impact on you as a DJ.
Sasha: I’m definitely using Live to re-invent my DJ sets. I really like Final Scratch software, which is revolutionary as a DJ tool. I was going down that route, but then I started playing with Live and it’s taken me into different directions. When I first start using Live, it’ll be like a third turntable, and then I’ll slowly incorporate it more. At the moment, I have parts of different tracks from different people, like Underworld, and I’m mixing records together in the studio. I’m actually talking to the M-Audio people now that I’ve got my head around what I want to accomplish. It’s only been the last couple of weeks that I’m seeing how to DJ with it. The algorithms created with Live are so simple and powerful. I think not many people have gotten onto it yet, but it’s definitely caused a revolution in my [DJ] set. In the studio, we’re running Live through Logic, Native Instruments stuff, and we’ve got Reaktor going.

good to see artists evolving. i use ableton live myself, but mainly as a recording and arranging tool. it definately allows for more creativity. i might experiment and see how djing is with it :toothless

It is also the same one that Josh Gabriel uses. I think this will give Sasha a little more creative freedom. The man is a musical genious so I am sure he will put it to good use.

Heh! Sasha of all respected DJ's. Not surprised....who else will evolve?.

Whoaa this is interesting, but yeah, perhaps it is because of the "damage" he has done to people in the crowd from vinyl-- perhaps he's afraid of getting sued. If this is just a decision unrelated to that, though, hopefully we'll hear some more-interesting sets from him. I respect his DJ'ing, but I look forward to hearing something other than progressive from him. I'd also like to see what would result from his use of Ableton live... Cool stuff. We'll see what happens, whether it turns out for good or not. :p
