| wtf are you talking about.... BS rumors.... i have ipod mini 4gb.... works sweet on livesets... even has fastforward to any point option at any time.... works much better than cd players or anything of that sort for livesets... thats all i listen to.... poo on you for making that ridiculous totally erroneous statement just because you "heard" from someone.... :mad: i hate apple.... i hate their company.... but ipod mini kicks llama. |

i guess consider getting ipod mini instead of the 40 gig monster...
although the ipod mini drives have poor reviews, you heard it firsthand from surge that it will satisfy your needs |

| i bought a 20 gig Dell DJ back in march. its filled with about 10 gigs of prog and breaks. i'm looking to sell it. i basically wasted my money because i NEVER use it. i used it going to and from florida. and thats about it. any takers here before i go to the buy/sell forum? just pm me. or im thru aim. |

40gig ipods work fine for live sets. I have one and I've never had a problem with any of my sets. I've got a 2 1/2 hour digweed set on mine and it plays continuously with no problems. Also, about skipping forward, you don't have to hold down the fast forward button to skip through songs. On the 3rd generation ipods you can tap the middle button while a song is playing and the volume meter should be replaced with a little black diamond on a progress bar. If you spin the jog dial around you will see it skip ahead to different parts of the song, allowing you to get to any part of the set you want.

well said sergio, my power book works awesome...... My ipod mini is the best thing ever and when i get my g5 desktop im sure it will rule them alll GO APPLE...... |

it's not so much that they have problems with livesets, it's that bigger mp3s drain the battery more. Here's why:
The reason the iPod has decent battery life is because the harddrive reads 20 minutes at a time. So it doesnt have to be constantly spinning. So longer mp3's require more hard drive spinning and drain your battery quicker. Personally, I have a 10GB iPod and don't find the extra drain to be that noticeable, but supposedly it is there. Either way, the iPod is an excellent buy, and 10GB goes WAY to fast. I want a 30GB :( |

then you must not have read your manual.. I can just from minute one to minute 139 in about 3 seconds.. press middle botton until in changes to rombus and spin clockwise to any part of set u want.. I got Gen 2 Ipod.. Gen 3 does the same..
