Just saw Oakenfold last night. For as long as I've been living in northern Virginia, I have never been to the 9:30 club until last night. I don't really go to clubs that much anymore, and it's rare for me to see a live dance DJ, since most of my friends aren't really into the Trance scene. I took a friend who's never experienced the whole trance thing, and she kept an opened mind, and she loved it.
I had to say, Oakenfold was awesome. I've seen other's before @ Glow (Ferry Corsten, Johan Gielen) and they were really good from what I can remember, but Oakey? He knew how to get the crowd going. I thought Liquid Todd and Scott Henry were good. Sometimes a little too dark for my taste. But once Oakey went on, the whole feeling in the crowd was phenomenal. He was a good entertainer and the tracks that he was playing were off the hook. Almost everything he played made the atmosphere seem so surreal. Hearing Southern Sun and to have see him play it was tight.
I haven't really been into Oakey in awhile (or trance for that matter) but I have to say, my respect for him as been renewed, and I enjoyed every minute he played. Great show.
Any tracklist available from the night?? |
