if the scratch is on the clear side and is not too deep then it might be "repaired", but if the scratch was made on the side where the information is printed and painted with colors or the dj face, then that cd is no longer "repairable":(

i agree with diablito, if u think about it, if the scratch is on the data side that bit of data has been scratched "off" so its now on ur carpet floor or somewhere so a cd repair kit wont be able to wr-write it, i maybe talking but thats how i think it works:conf:

I know they got something for Video Game CDs called "CD Doctor" or something like that...it uses some ultra fine sandpaper & cuts away a very thin layer of the CD surface, removing scratches. Don't know how good it works though, my friend is thinking about buying it (costs about $10-$15 I think).

I doubt it would skip because that's what Funcoland uses to repair scratched CDs and they work fine. U can also use it more than once so if u tend to scratch CDs alot it would pay off. I hardly ever get scratches on my CDs so I don't really have to worry about it.

Go to the sink with your cd, wash it, put some toothpaste on your finger (ones with no baking soda) and wash the cd with it

works for me.

The toothpaste works for me too. I've repaired fairly deep scratches with it. The point is to grind the sharp edges on the scratch, so they won't refract light in the wrong direction anymore.
Juricimo
thanx for all the tips. before i head out in search of new cd, i shall try the toothpaste trick. It can't hurt to try:)

haha, Swamper, TA's Martha Stuwart. :whip:

I have the CD Doctor and it fixes scratches pretty good, and you can use it up to 50 times. I have so old CDs that are completely wasted and saved a few. Like Henkie said though, if it gets to the data layer, then you're screwed.

HOORAY FOR SWAMPER!!!!

Colgate Cavity Protection toothpaste worked! It sure as hell added thousands of tiny barely detected by the human eye scratches, which do not make the CD skip, SO IT'S ALL GOOD!!!

And this toothpaste is ADA accepted too!
