Most people use Neteller now. It's so convenient and fast it's not even funny. It's like using Paypal. You used to be able to use paypal but once ebay bought them, you can't use them anymore. :p

Credit cards are no good anymore, because a lot of people used them and when they got smoked from playing poker they refused to pay back the credit card companies, so the banks don't allow it anymore. :p

yeah i saw the thing about netteller when i went to sign up that time that it didn't work, but i had never heard of it
does it cost anything to use?

poker addiction can be dangerous tho

agreed, always good advice.

One reason why I've been so successful at poker though has been my even keel personality. I don't get too emotional after a bad loss. I'm always focused and don't go on tilt (playing like a maniac after a bad beat)

It's always best to have fun when you're playing, I however treat it very seriously. I spend LOTs of time taking notes on players and analyzing every play. Although now I spend a lot less time playing than when I first started out even though I'm winning so much more. Go figure.

no, it's like using paypal.

EDIT: I should say it's similar but not exactly.

I don't really play poker at all, but have heard that the game is a lot about how you 'read' people. (Having a good poker face.) Isn't it kind of hard to 'read' other people when you're playing against them online?
mezzir
reading people can refer to both reading their emotions, facial expressions, and mannerisms, or also it can refer to their playing style and getting an idea of what they have by comparing how their acting to previous occasions

Yeah, I was more refering to facial and emotional expressions. That computer buffer can definately change the game.

I'm actually quite a better player when I'm not playing online. Getting a good 'read' on your opponent is so important when you're playing face to face. One thing I do is that I'm always observing especially when I'm not in the hand. It helps that I have a photographic memory (all this before I started experimenting with extasy....but that's another story).

Online play is a little different. The play on the internet is a LOT looser, in the sense that when someone makes an obvious bad play or when they are caught in a bluff it's less humiliating because they're behind a computer screen and don't have to look the other players in the eye. Such is the nature of online play, no one knows who you are so people make a lot of weird plays and marginal calls. Plus it's a lot easier to just click your mouse to make a call than to physically grab your chips and throw them in the pot. This may sound kinda silly but you wouldn't believe how true this is.
I collect a lot of hand histories and sometimes when I go over them after a play my jaw just drops.

verminator
hehe

there are so many ridicilous players playing online poker..

can't believe that they manage to play that bad.. stupid calling stations hehe

Just yesturday I played an amazing hand.
Our stakes are much lower than yours ($20 buy in) so just immagine that everything is 10X or 20X, I'm a poor college student.

I had pocket 8s. Kid is bettin hard preflop, so everyone else folds except me and him.

Flop comes 8, K, A. I knew he didn't have aces or kings, but he's betting hard so I put him on 2 pair. So I inflate the pot even more (by now its about $20).

Turn comes... 9
This ment little to me, I thought he had Aces and Kings, but really he had J 10, so he just hit his straight, and now he's betting HARD. Never the less I call him.

River... 9
So now we got 8 K A 9 9, the running 9's gave me a full house and I call all in (about $40 left), he calls and my 8's over 9's kick his ass. Thank God for running 9s.
