| i use the dial with "noise" written under it. I only put noise on my synths, I never make stuff out of it. |

The difference between white and pink noise is the relative amplitude levels, with white noise everything is the same, with pink noise the lowers frequencies are boosted to be just as loud as the higher ones. |

I use white noise to make the standard electrinic 'swoosh' sound.
get your white nose going and play around with the filter freq.
Add some reverb & delay for depth. and try some flange/phaser fx for spice :D
Tranc3 may I ask what track/sound you have rendered to create the soundpeak/wavform visual in your sig ? just out of interest

| I've heard noise can add airyness to pads and strings :conf: , or something like that. I have had a hard time finding an actual use for the noise osc other than for messing around and getting a good laugh. You can make a pretty corney scifi-ish slide wistle sound with the jp8080 noise osc. |

Other than making that "swoosh" sound, white and pink (and brown i think) noise can be used to make kicks when layered and combined with sine waves. If you use the noise by itself, then you can make a snare, obviously! All you have to do is eq the hell out of it, and filter,layer,reverb,distortion and there you have it.
Actually, noise=percussion. Since noise has no "definite" pitch range, you can make all sorts of percussion. Hi-hats (very short decay/release, boost in the 10k's and up),snares,kicks,bongos, crashes and etc... But you'll most likely have to patch it up with like one sine or triangle wave. Square waves are mostly used to make basses.
A 3xOSC would be a GREAT tool in helping you explore this if you have FL studio. It only has 3xOscs, you can lower the volume on the bottom two and make the first one just noise and play around with filtering than turn on one of the other two and set it as a sine really quietly to backup the noise and try to make a kick or snare, once you get used to it on a 3xOSC, try doing it on a more complex synth to make your own unique sounds. |
