Hello,
I am the producer of a new trance project. I would be pleased if you could listen to our new track - I am looking for general opinions and advice. The track will feature vocals when it is complete, but is currently without them - please bear this in mind when listening as some parts may seem a little simple (this is where the vocals will be)
You can listen to the track at [[ LINK REMOVED ]]
As yet, our group (me and my vocalist) doesn't have a title so any suggestions would be very welcome! Our sound is fairly commercial and catchy, hopefully you'll find it euphoric!
Like I said, I would love to hear your opinions and suggestions.
Thanks,
Dan |

Hi,
If you right-click and select 'save target as' (or similar if you use a browser other than Internet Explorer) it should work. I only just realised you have to do that. |

Ok there goes. I did that the first time, but it said it could not find it...
The track seems kind of empty. Like all the sounds are muted and lead sounds kinda bad, you can barely hear that its a tone and not just an sfx. The melody is pretty simple, you know?
The bass sounds muted and cheesy too. Make those bg strings louder for one. Seems like you're just starting out. Listen to good trance and after a while, you'll get a hang ot things...
Though you sure master better then me.:whip: |

Thank you for your comments, they are most appreciated. I'll take a look at some of the things you commented on. I think that the track will benefit greatly from vocals, I tried to make the track fairly simple to allow for them - I've been having some problems adding vocals to a track of ours which is much more complicated.
Actually, I've been producing for a few years but there you go...
I really admire artist like 4 Strings and Ian Van Dahl, I try not to copy them but aim for that sound.
Anymore comments would be gladly welcome. |

If you want to go for the 4 Strings or Ian van Dahl sound, then you gotta have that typical rolling bass and euro-synth. I guess you're heading in the right direction. Personally I can't stand Ian Van Dahl, though I like a couple of tracks by 4 Strings, but I would never consider them great trance producers...
I think if you look to some other producers, that are on the opposite side of the cheesyness spectrum from IVD, then you might get some good ideas. Try Cass & Slide, Underworld, Leama & Moor...
Maybe the sound of more 'underground' trance will catch your ear, and you will enjoy more then IVD or 4 Strings. |

To be honest I like nearly all trance, but for different reasons.
I love commercial trance from Ian Van Dahl and 4 Strings becuase they are very catchy. There tracks are quite simple, but I find them really catchy and euphoric.
I also like less commercial trance by artists such as Lange, Robert Miles, Push and Paul Van Dyk (just some of my favourites) - but for a different reason. I really admire the complexity of their tracks and quite like the more progressive sound.
Any more comments on my track would be really welcome. |

I'll have to agree with eulerfx. The track seems kinda empty, I know you're making room for a vocal but there doesn't seem to be anything holding the track together.
The bass gets lost half way through the track and those pads need to be fuller.
The stabs sound kinda crunchy, they need to be cleaner. I think you also need a melody running through to complement the stabs, kinda gluing everything together.
The overall structure is good though.
But eh!, what do I know:D |
