it owned, best show Ive gone to. and the best show ohio has had ever.

people all over the place, I went to the restroom around 2ish and had to sneak my way back into a spot on the floor.

Ritual needs to move venues in cleveland, or something, because they are bringing in some a list talent, and going to b- level clubs.

Cleveland needs crowds that support more than the Top 5 DJs.

If people supported more than PVD and Tiesto shows, there would be a bigger market for clubs to open up for.

Half the time Moda sits empty because kids in the scene aren't supporting lesser-known DJs, and barely the locals, who are all very very very good.

If you ran that club, would you plan to expand it when it's packed for only two or three shows a year?

SUPPORT UNDERGROUND TALENT!

SUPPORT YOUR LOCALS!

If there were stronger support for the local scene, bigger clubs would open, I guarantee you. But clubs and promoters cannot make a living off a handful of rock star shows a year, although there are those that try.

I just returned from a trip to San Francisco, and could not believe the support the local scene has there. 600 people at an after-work party on a Wednesday night. Un-ing believable! Why isn't there that kind of support for the local scene here? Why does it take Tiesto to pack Moda every week? Surely it's not because he's the best DJ he's ever been right now.

To that end, hope to see you all at the HeadRush Music Summer Series being held at Abbasso (inside Bottom's Up) and Wish Nightclub.

and at a new Friday weekly, starting Friday July 2 at Abbasso.

WE WOULD The fact that a ing bottle of labbatt is $5, plus the cover, and well I think I speak for most people when I say we arent gonna spend that kind of $$ on unknowns or little knowns.

Im down with a 10-15 cover, every weekend, but godam its $7 @@!#^@ dollars for a shot of JD at moda, noone has $100 to spend every weekend to go see a show. I sure as hell dont want to spend that on a show that may not be great, which is why the majority of ppl only go for the big names.

Im there for three, ive never been to abbasso, but whats up with groovetickets costing $10 presale, yet at the Tiesto show I get a flyer for $5 the night of and no service fee. that is very not cool.

I also got a flyer for the club Rain? is that new, no cover and dollar drafts every sat, with psy goa and dnb. Im down for that EVERY saturday thats imo how you start up a club/scene. you cant just except ppl to shell out buku bux for someone they may not have heard of.

Thats why we have no "real" scene here

So, what's the answer? People are going to spend the rest of their lives jumping off the cliff like lemmings to whatever the latest polls or DJ mags have to say is the "best" DJ? Come on now. How are they any different then to people who listen to only Top 40 because it's "known?"

As for the Groovetickets price, go back and look at the Three event post here on TA. It says, "$5 before 11pm, $10 after." If you wanted to only pay $5, you should have held out on getting the pre-sale, and made sure to get there before 11pm. However, if you get there before 11, I'll be sure to have the door person give you back your $5. Send me a private message with your real name and phone number.

Drink specials at Abbasso, by the way, are $2 16oz drafts, and $5 Red Bull bombs. That shouldn't break your piggy bank too much. The weekly we are starting on Friday July 2 at Abbasso is FREE, no cover.

I'm none too pleased to hear that there still won't be support for locals because they're not rock stars. Take Deviant (HeadRush Music, Toes in the Sand Recordings). He's originally from NYC where he built up a great scene, moved to Cleveland, has played at just about every club in Cleveland, from Moda to Metropolis to Wish to Cloud 9 to Abbasso, opened and closed for over a dozen headlining parties in Cleveland, tore the ing roof off San Francisco's weekly at Anu last Wednesday; His mixes are all over our web site, he hands out free cds at every event, yet gets no support from his hometown because people refuse to come out for someone they don't "know."

Sad, really. Sad. And people wonder why the scene here isn't as good as it is in coastal cities. It has nothing to do with drink prices. Trust me, I've lived in many cities, $7 for a shot of JD is CHEAP. It used to cost $8 just for a bottle of water in Miami. It's because people don't take the effort to go out and familiarize themselves with what's going on in their hometown. It's there. Make some effort. Get to know people.

Did you know that one of the releases on our record label was put on Anthony Pappa's latest mixed CD Balance 006? Did you even know there was a progressive record label in Cleveland? http://www.toesrecordings.com

Ask jdat...he's been our staunchest supporter, and has hopefully been rewarded by hearing some great ass music the past two years.

BTW, for what it's worth: The dj Deviant I mentioned above was originally slotted to open for Tiesto when the Tiesto date was originally scheduled for the 25th. But when they changed the date to the 19th, he had to decline because he had been booked for the gig in San Francisco.

thats cool $5 aint no thing. 3 is worth it and I presale most of the events, just so I dont have to worry about not getting in that nite.

but you do have to understand that a very big majority of clevelanders have no clue on EDM at all. its a sad fact, and we arent the only city in this country like that. pretty much the only way anyone really hears anything is through word of mouth around here, and I know ive done my part to get alot of people into it.

So the problem comes in, how do we get people in the doors to get them to see what its all about. drink prices are a direct reflection of that, Im not sure, but I do think cleveland has the highest amount of bars per capita in the USA. which makes alot of competition.
