:D Brilliant game for England i thought, played really well (after a while), when they got going they looked like a team that could win the whole thing!!!

I think Cole played well too but was a bit dissapointed by the defense, if portugal use some of their flair against england im not too sure what will happen

I'm in a dilema now too, i have portuguese blood and live in england, i dont havre a clue who to cheer for, but as i will be watching in an english pub i guess if i value my life i'd better cheer for england!

But at least i'll have a team to support in semi's either way :toothless

Well, it was tense there in the first 15 minutes with Croatia in the lead, but we were having chances left, right and centre and I knew the boys would equalise. Wayne Rooney...what more can you say about him? Instead of trying to be greedy on the first goal, he spotted Scholes and put a beautiful header over. And his two goals...my my..what a talent we have. I think any doubters of Rooney are hiding in shame.

David James is still a bit of a concern...the first goal was not his fault and he made a brilliant stop to keep it 1 nill. But that second goal....he just stands there and watches the ball, which you cannot do at this level. He did it against France on the tying goal and against Switzerland a few times. He might cost us the game sooner or later if it's tight (and it probably will be from here on in).

To the guy whining about England's diving...get stuffed! The English players do not dive and do not complain like the Italians or Portuguese. Did you see the Croatian goalie after Owen bumped into him? ing disgusting. Croatia played well, but let's be honest...they were outclassed.

When English players fall over they usually get back up again. The English passionately hate 'simulation' which is growing in the English game because of all the foreign imports.

England have conceded 4 goals in this tournament, all from set pieces. This is a cause for concern but it also means we know exactly where we are going wrong defensively. We only have a couple of days to sort it out, though.

It was a very encouraging performance from England today, can't fault any of our players even if some played better than others. Rooney is on fire, Scholes is beginning to prove his critics (myself included) wrong, and Lampard is settling in well. Owen and to a lesser extent Beckham have some room for improvement, if our big players perform there is noone we can't beat. I worry about our defence against the Portuguese, but their defence isn't anything to write home about either. Could be plenty of chances at either end. We mustn't be intimidated by the home fans, we have to attack the Portuese defence from the off because England don't do patient build up football.

I'm just amazed at the stupid comparison you have made. A sniper at the stadium? Wow thats beautiful. Especially with all the bull that has been going around to make the Euro a safe place. You probably didn't hear about the threats that certain sects threatened to carry out. This goes for Greece this summer too. I read that in one of the articles in the papers, and how important it was to make security tight. Yeah i like soccer and a bit of hooliganism but you are the real dumbass of this thread. Yea Croatia lost, so what? Its just a sport and a hobby of mine, i don't cut my vains for this game. Also, the players might be a bit pissed too, but at the end of the day they get their fat paycheck and go back to their mansions to rest with their model wives. Get a life.

The sniper saying is a common football metaphor about diving and falling by players.

eg "He went down like he had been shot"

Calm down.

Well alright man. I've never heard it before.

I don't think Beckham's played as badly as most people seem to make out... he hasn't had that much action up front but has done his part setting up alot of England's chances. He can definitely deliver the cross every time.

that's why a bit of the talk in England bothers me. Beckham isn't looking 100% out there, but you still need his presence on the pitch. He can create a goal at any time, same as Owen. I just wish they were both on top form and nobody would be able to stop us!:D
