Good midi controllers for $250-ish?

And yes, I've used the search, but I'm still pretty much a noob when it comes to all this production stuff. Just to be 100% clear, a midi controller basically just acts as a physical input to a digital synth (such as cubase), correct?
Anyways, if it matters, I'm running win2k pro (might get xp tho soon) and I'll probably be using it mostly with cubase, though if it can do other programs or other fancy things, thats definately a plus. |
