Its ing sweet, however you need a massive PC to play the god damn thing. |
Man, whats with you people?!?! Seems everyone thinks dooms gonna need everyone to upgrade to the latest greatest hardware. Give me a break. Sure if you want all graphic levels on highest with all dynamic lighting and all the other crazy graphical that JC has got going in it, then yeah, youll need a high-end system. But its not like the rest of us arn't going ot beable to play it. How do you think they'll make money if only a handfull of hardcore gamers can play it?!
I've got a athlon 2100+, soon to have 768mb ram, and a gforce ti4200. Essentially, ive got about the average system of the average gamer. I know i wont get all the eye-candy, but give me a break that i wont beable to play the game, and enjoy the out of it. |

I've got a pre-order for it, thanks to my birthday and my girlfriend. :)
Oh, and about the hardware scare surrounding the Doom III engine. The game will, in fact, have much higher minimum system requirements than other games on the market. Doom III will not on anything less than a 128MB video card and 512MB of RAM. It is also a necessity to have a 7200RPM hard drive or faster. 5400 will not cut it due to texture compression. Anyone who tells you otherwise probably doesn't know much about the game's engine.
If you can run Far Cry, chances are you can run Doom III. |

Perfect game to play while your home alone at night with all the lights in the house shut off :D
I have older video card TI4200 and i was able to play farcry fine so im assuming that this game should be no different. I don't think iD would ostricize 60%+ of the gaming community who don't have the latest stuff. Maybe to play it with everything set to max, yes. |

I would fear any game that's released when we have barely seen anything from it prior to its release...we've seen what....a little itty demo that's one room and like two trailers...using a lot of the same footage between both...

I wouldn't worry about this at all. If you didn't hear, it went gold today, meaning the game is 100% complete and all the store copies are being manufactured and shipped out. PC Gamer has already reviewed it, proclaimed it to be absolute awesomeness, and says it took them 23 hours to beat on medium difficulty. |

Yes, this is the official word that DOOM 3 has been code released and has been approved for manufacturing!
It won't be long now until the anticipation ends and the PH34R begins ;-) We literally just hung up with
Activision and have confirmed that our latest release candidate has been mutually approved and is finally
GOLD. Thanks to everyone for their patience (yeah right! =) and for everyone at id, Activision and our
numerous partners for helping us create what I believe is absolutely the best game we have ever made.

| Anyone know how well its supposed to run compaired to FarCry? I recall hearing somewhere that if you can run FarCry, you can run Doom 3. I tried the FC demo last night and to my suprise it ran great in 1024x32 on my old 1.4 tbird and geforce3. |

| I've had this on preorder for some time now. I can't believe its only 3 more weeks. I intend to play this only at night with all the lights out. I've got an Athlon XP 3000, 512MB Ram, and a GeforceFX 5900 Ultra 256MB so hopefully, I'll be able to play it with everything turned up but we will see. I had to turn things down in Far Cry to get a smooth framerate. |
