| i've noticed that i'm not pleased with my productions in the majority of cases. maybe its because im a weak producer but rather i suppose that the fact of hearing them constantly during the production process let them appear a bit boring to me. have you guys made similar experiences or am i totaly alone with this impression? |

| i hear you...if i don't make the greatest track of all time...its not good enough hehehe...i definitely think that hearing it soooo often takes away from a track...just like in tracks that you haven't made... |

hi there Soundrush :),
We have all been in your position atleast once. Producing isnt easy, and sometimes we think we will never manage to create something good, but with some hard work, patience, time you'll eventualy get there. Also, if you start a track and in the middle you say " oh it its not good ", dont stop working on it. Finish it, even if it sounds like a tetris game. The more experince the faster you'll get there. What do you use to produce your music? Im using FL, so if you need some help you can allways ask for it :). Im no Armin van buuren :p or something, but just been playing around with stuff for a long time now,
Cheers,
Hope it helps. |

Hmm I think we all have times like that man.I feel every song I do is good untill I make another one and then the previous song I was so proud of sounds like crap to me.I think this is just the getting better process.I know for a fact though that I have a lot of dedication to what I do and so I know I will be someday pleased with all my works after I level out and all songs sound okay even after a new song comes out.I feel when I come to that point thats when I might start passing cd's out.I think we all must go through the learning process though and its kinda a time where a lot of people give up.Only the dedicated make it through and I think its kinda vital as I believe most of the people who give up were probably doing it for the wrong reasons in the first place.
No matter what I reccomend spending at least three hours a day on your music weather it be composing, remastering, downloading samples or just good old in around on half projects you are gonna throw away before you finish.I have missed parties, dates with girls, and a lot of other oportunities because I was in the middle of a project.
I slightly disagree with the comment above. If the song stops heading in the direction you want it to sometimes its best to scrap it but as with the song I am currently working on it i just threw away half of it and kept the core and rewrote the rest so its really on a individual example basis. |

I had this mind set too. However when you think is good. u let others listen might not be good. Hurt is what we get at times because we had not reach the standard yet but nevertheless, keep on trying. im sure you me and other always strive harder each day on producing music. If it sound crapz, work on that more. play the notes to be more catchy. put in more effect and layers to sound full and exciting.
Music are just a journey. Plain to wonderful feeling to exciting to memorable to rest.
Good luck to all and me as well. hehe :D |

| hmm.... i've got another problem, when i compose track today it sounds good, but when i get up another day and listen to it, it sounds like a ...just dunno what to do...maybe it's some sort of psychological problem? |

It also happen to me again. Psychological would be the problem. Because you do it yesterdae you feel that its nice and it always ringing in ur mind for a long time. But rem, your mind is tired at the same time. So, when your asleep, the melody kinda ringing in ur mind. So when you woke up, you found that there's more to improve when you listen again. Need not to get worried, just play the sound and melody again.
That show that you are serious of your work.
Just my point of view koz it happened to me alot of times. :p |

I dont suppose that even Armin makes great songs every time. I mean, I would imagine every producer makes 4 or 5 crap tunes to every good one! And REALLY good ones are even more rare.
Thats what makes them so great... they're rare and valuable like a gem.
If we all banged off QUALITY HITS everytime, we'd be in a world of hurt! |

| Just think about one simple fact: usually when you listen to a song, there is seldom more than 4 elements appearing at the same time. By elements I mean, drums, bass, pad and a lead (voice). There are of course effects that you might add on top, but usually a great song is relativelly simple with elements being introduced and taken out to increase the excitement. Another thing that might help you in your productions is that it is very important to think in 3-dimensional terms, frequency is height, panning is width and reverb and early reflections are depth. |
