Definately a nail biter ! Congrats to the Portuguese fans, your team deserved the victory after England lost the plot and defended for 85 minutes having gained the lead.
Sad to see the brits drop out, especially after the steller display by Rooney and Lampard throughout the tournament ( i wonder what the result would have been if Rooney'd stuck around for the full 90), in any case the better team won on the night, and i'm glad that the curtain is yet to fall on the Golden Age of Portugese Football.
On a side note. Ronaldo !!! My God, this Kid is unbelievable. Seen him play a bunch of times for Man U, and each time he has the ball at his feet you always get the feeling somethings going to happen.
With England out, Portugal becomes my new favorites so here's wishing the best of luck to them, and their fans :)
And the beautiful games continues to captivate hearts and minds... |

Portugal outplayed England, though in many cases in seemed that the referee was helping Portugal. |

Ummm, dunno how you can say he was , did you see him take on Ashley Cole ? Granted he didn't score or assist, but he was lively, and more dangerous then Englands wingers...
Portugual didn't outplay England so much as England scored, then just sat back and 'tried' to absorb the pressure, which given the time 85 minutes was just a flawed gameplan. Don't know if it was a tactical decscion taken by Sven after Rooney limped off or not, but they should have tried to get that second goal instead of trying to stem the red and green tide.
In any case the games over, and Ronaldo still kicks ass ! |
