this is hard to explain...

i want to know what kinda of sound i can use to produce that typical trancy melody sound. Its hard to define what sound I'm referring to. Its that stringy airy type sound that is used by a lot of trance DJs to create the main melody.

i have an mp3 attachment of a small section of three songs for reference
-Rapid Eye - Circa Forever
-O.S.I.R.U.S - Oneness with the Universe
-Rank 1 - Airwave

since i cant put an mp3 higher than 11,025 Hz and 24kbps you wont be able to hear clearly the sound im talking about. You can however figure out what sound im talking about, listen to some song with that sound and then let me know.

if you listen to the example you can get a general idea of what im looking for. Just listen to the main melody. i know they may not be the exact same sounds, but i just want to know how to create a sound similar to the ones presented in those as well as a lot of other trance songs.

LOL. this is so hard to explain.
please help... thanks

theres 2 presets i can think of...
the magic preset for simsynth and the string thing preset for green matrix in reaktor can both get a similar sound

oh dear...another jp8000 supersaw lover...

its just a bunch of saws detuned and played in unison.

If you don't know what 'saw' means in terms of synthesis then you haven't even got basic knowledge. Have a read of this, it should help...also search this forum for synth tutorials, there's plenty of good ones.

i hate to say this but i dont think hes gunna get very far...

oh, i know what u could try, try the superwave P8 that might be a step towards what ur looking for...

do a search for superwave p8 on this forum, should be a link for download

read a synth programming manual for any synth, lots of the functions are commonplace throughout synths + i started when i was 15 with FL so don't use your age as ignorance ;)
