That was me, I played that :)
I was planning on stopping with Aquasource - Waking Up the Sun, and they told me that I needed to play more because tiesto wasn't ready, and I didn't know where to go after that, because I had only really brought a couple of epic-y trance tracks to play at the end of my set.
I realized I had the J00F mix of Cafe Del Mar on the other side of the Marco V mix that I had been planning to play earlier but didn't, and so I cued that up.
Then like two seconds before I was going to mix it in, Scott Henry comes in and goes-- can you bring the energy down some? And I was like, sure... and then dropped one of the biggest all time trance CHOONS :) oh well...
I played Mooga after that to drop the level down, but the guy who came into to put Tiesto's CD on didn't seem to care one way or the other and just wound it down.
Anyway... I had a great time last night, you guys rocked, great energy. It was seriously a dream come true for me to play for a crowd like that.
my personal tracklisting that night (possibly somewhat wrong, I'm going by memory)
Mac Zimms - Feel Me
Katana - Tribal Shock
Katana - Alesis
Body Shock - Rain in the City
Bates 45 - Angel
Telepopmusic - Breathe (tiga mix)
Body Shock - Break This
Unknown - Energy Flash (breaks remix)
Chemical Brothers - Get Yourself High (Felix da Housecat mix)
Marcel Woods - Time Is Running Out
MIKE - Turn Out the Lights (Transa mix)
Marco V - Solarize
Ricky Fobis - No Regular (Mike's Electro Mix)
CreamTeam - Samurai (Corj Finamin (whatever his name is) mix)
David Forbes vs Mallorca Lee - Quadra
Dk8 - Murder is the Bass
Foy Lee Forbes - Boxed
Recluse - Yellow Moon (Octagen Mix)
Aquasource - Waking the Sun
Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar (John Fleming Mix)
Digital Blonde - Mooga (only about half of it before Tiesto started) |
Wow man, I got there for the last hour of your set, it was ing great, perfect mood-setter for Tiesto:) When you played Cafe Del Mar JOOF remix, I went totally nuts, and then Tiesto came on:crazy:
Oh, an Clyde, I also think Tiesto Dropped LNG - Intercity. That was the signed record he threw out at the end that my friend got a hold of, and we blasted it on my decks at home and I'm almost 100% sure he played it towards the end. |

btw, I'm basically just a bedroom dj like most of you guys are who was in the right place at the right time. The closest gig to this I had before this was at an Anime convention in Baltimore last summer, and maybe playing the upstairs room at Cubik a few times.
So keep buying those main room anthems and being persistent and networking and you can get those big gigs if you get lucky and make friends with the right people :)

June 25 2004: It was Tiesto's return to Nation after his set in October 2002. How did it compare with his first appearance at Nation? It was hands down a more intense experience! Was it a perfect night? No. Was it a blast? Hellz yeah!
It was awesome having Empath open up for Tiesto! Empath got the crowd pumped up with a bangin' set of mostly tech-trance and some techno! I couldn't have been happier when I heard Katana - Tribal Shock and Marcel Woods - Time Is Running Out! Empath dropped one of my favorite techno tracks...DK8 - Murder Was The Bass! I was in the patio when I heard Empath throw down that track...I rushed back to the main room! Mad props to Empath for his slammin' set!
The crowd was already whipped into a frenzy by the time Tiesto took the decks! At that time, things just got a bit much. People pretty much charged toward the DJ booth when Tiesto threw down the first track (Today And Forever). It was just as crazy, if not crazier than when I last saw Tiesto at Glow and at Space Miami. I stayed near the front of the DJ booth most of the night, even if there was barely any room to dance. After all...I wanted to experience as much of Tiesto's set as possible! Tiesto rocked the house for three hours straight! I didn't recognize most of the tracks in Tiesto's set...not that it mattered, I loved it all! Tiesto's energy and happiness were contagious! I loved hearing a few of Tiesto's tracks from his incredible new album as well as couple of old favorites!
Among the tracks that made my night...
Tiesto - Today And Forever (breathtakingly beautiful!)
Tiesto - Just Be (2nd track of the set...great choice after the opening!)
Portishead - Roads (Sultan and Tonedepth rmx)
Holden & Thompson - Nothing
Tiesto - Walking In The Clouds
Tiesto - Tear In The Open
Tiesto - Love Comes Again featuring BT (I just about died!)
Tiesto - Nyana
Tiesto - Adagio For Strings (I can't say enough how much I love it!)
All in all...it was a great night! Was Tiesto's set at Nation my favorite? No...I don't think nothing can beat having experienced Tiesto at Space Miami last March! I only wish that Tiesto would've been able to spin 4 or more hours! Oh well. Maybe next time at the new Glow? I can't wait to see Tiesto again!
Shoutouts to: sammy6979 and dcougar (great seeing you guys back in DC again!), bigjimslade (long time no see...hope to see you more often!), bzy, king solara, jose, and empath!
Me after Tiesto: :toocool:  |
