Never had any major problems with gentoo, so I guess I'm quite happy with it. It takes a while to install the system, if you're doing an Stage2 (or even Stage1) install. *cough*KDE*cough*
And portage is quite nice aswell. Makes installing any (common) software a pice of cake :thepirate |
mmmmm i have most of it done, at the moment i'm at work and forgot to enable ssh on the install so i gotta wait to get home, all i gotta do is setup grub pretty much and i think i'm golden.
computers are usually not that easy though so i'm not expecting it to be. what program are you using to make the terminal look so nice? |

The terminal a gnome-terminal ('emerge gnome-terminal'). Configuring it is quite straight-forward ;)
If you don't want to install all the gnome stuff it requires, there are a few alternatives, 'aterm' and 'konsole' (KDE terminal).
I remeber finishing setting up gentoo, especially the part when you do 'etc-update'. It wanted to update 100+ config files, and I couldn't be bothered to type 'y' for each file, so I took the '-5' option (overwrite files without asking).
Instead of typing 'y' the next 10 minutes, I spent ~2 hours editing config files so I finally could start X :whip: |

I used StyleXP to apply the skins etc. As for the stats, I used Samurize (click HERE) for the little readouts and stuff. It's pretty good, and there are tutorials on the site to help you.

I only ever use my comp at work. It's the last thing I wanna look at when I get home! :toothless |

Nope, nowadays I just listen to music. I somehow got more into programming/graphics.
But do you know of any good audio tools on linux? They can come very handy now and then. And considering most of them only are one 'emerge' away, I might just play around with them a while ;) |
