| crazy film...If I remember right, there is a special edition or re-release in the works (or avialable now?) that expands the story and explains more...? I'm too lazy to look up the details, I'm sure details are all over the net. ;) |

totally with you on that. I've seen it twice now. It's a great movie until you over-analyze the ending imo. For those that didn't understand it, *warning spoiler*, the whole 28 days, etc after the jet engine crashed into Donnie's room was what WOULD happen if he didn't die from the crash. This means that he would've met gretchin (sp?) and she would've died, he would've shot frank (his sisters boyfriend with the rabbit suit...) and his mother and sister would die in a plane crash because the bitch lady couldn't take them to LA or whereever they went. So in the end he chooses to "erase the bad things and replace them with something beautiful" (said by gretchin a few times throughout the movie), and he lets the jet engine kill him.
NOW here comes the over-analystic stupidity. the only reason he didn't die from the jet engine crash the FIRST time is because of the future rabbit dude Frank who was "sent" to warn Donnie about the future!!! like wtf if frank hadn't been there in the first place to "call out to donnie" and make him sleepwalk to the golf course he would have died in the engine crash...making the whole 28 days irrelevent ....DUH!!!! (i haven't seen the movie in a while, maybe im completely wrong on this?)
other than that the movie was great. imo if you haven't seen it watch everything up until the plane crash with his mother and sister inside. then it will be a good movie |
