Hey am Curious :D

For Temple i used 2 full reason mixers, 28 instruments :)

but you may not count layerd stuff with same instrument, like for a kick, some people layer 10 same kicks..(cough luke) :p
Digital Aura
Does that really kick the crap outta your CPU usage?
Just wondered... I get problems not so much with having many instruments, but when I start to mixdown and put multiple effects on each of them LOOKOUT!!

THATS INSANE!
hey cheggy
I normally use about 10 synths, but some of that is hardware so it doesn't munch too much CPU. As far as channels go though, I might be running about 30 channels all up.

well usually it goes like:
2-4 redrums
2-5 subtractors
2-5 malstroms
1-3 dr.rex's
1-2 nn19s (or 1 nnxt)
3-10 scream's
1-3 rv7000s
1-5 reverb units (the old ones, forgot the name)
3-6 compressors
2-5 delay units
4-7 filter units
1-4 eq units
a vocoder

and a mixer or two :toocool:

Why not? ;)

I used 48 channels on Genesis (10 channels on the lead alone) out of which at least 20-30 were used throughout the main section...

I would had taken a screenshot but I can't fit them all in the same screen.

Edit:
Right, not counting layered stuff... ahem... 36 channels.
broken silence
i usually use about 8 or so virus parts, 6 nova parts, 5 or so subtractors, orchestral vst with about 3 instruments (ie strings, piano etc), usually 1 sometimes 2 redrums, 1 dr. rex, 2-3 NN19s, battery for SFX..usually like 20-30 samples, usually like 3 vsts fer extra sounds like pro-53 or vanguard, very few effects, usually like 2 reverbs on cubase's send and 2 delays, then about like 4 or so individual reverbs, and a bunch of PSP vintage warmer compressors.

so usually about 30ish, maybe more sometimes. my cpu doesnt like much more though, especially with in orchestral vst :P

i dont only use the compressor to compress, i sometimes use it as an effect unit (together with a nice distortion, or a proper filter setting) :toocool:

Wow...this really sheds some light on things for me.
I used 14 channels total on my first piece. Guess some of my patches are feeling lonely!:stongue:

Sebraa
2 mixers of REASON intruments! (32ch)
Rob
Mixer 1: with a compressor
Redrum(kick)
Subtractor(for lowend bassline)
Subtractor(for upper bassline)

Mixer 2(percs): with a compressor
Redrum(1 perc sample)
Redrum(1 perc sample)
Redrum(1 perc sample)
Redrum(1 perc sample)
Redrum(1 perc sample)
Redrum(clap)
Redrum(clap)
Subtractor/Maelstrom - for any elctro percs

I do this because it gets too cluttered having 10 samples in the one redrum. It makes tracking easier too:o

Mixer 3:
Subrator: 2-5(leads)
Maelstrom: 2-5(leads)
