| Ok guys, i dont know if its right place to post it.. but here goes... Is there a formula to claculate the pitch difference between 2 tracks? I been thinkin about it and cant figure out a formula yet... maybe im just 2 dumb but yeah, if any of u have figured out somhow please let me know.. Thanx guys.. :) |

yeah... this one buzzed about my brain a while ago.
you will find that if you divide 960 by the length of a 16 beat break u get the bpm ;)
e.g if a 16 beat break = 10 seconds long, then u go 960/10=96bpm
960/7.11111111111111111111111=135bpm |

| hey!, thats a pretty dandy idea! |

| btw these times for the 16 beat break need to be as exact as possible, otherwise its pointless.. u need to find the length to at least 3 decimal places for it to be close enough :) |

Actually i know that a 4 beat sample of a 138 bpm loop is 1.736 secs long, i used to do everything at 138 beats hehe
you can calculate that stuff but i alsways forget it when i need it, have to reason it up again |

| Dude, i dont think u got my question properly... i already know the BPM, but say i had a record which was 140BPM and i had another record which was 145BPM is there a formula to calculate the pitch difference in % on the pitch controller's on the TT's??? thats what i ment.. if ya know what i mean. |

it would be variable...
there is no simple way, really...
try BPM of one record over the BPM of the other, and that might give you some indication??
im jus guessing, though |

| I don't know the formula, but I do know there is a little program someone already made to do this go here http://www.djprince.net/software.htm and check out the tempo calc. Just type in 2 bpms and it tells you how to set the pitch. Hope this helps. |

| interesting question, this has helped me as a relatively new dj, just messing around at the mo though, havent got the money to go into it properly, god i wish promo vinyls were not so expensive |

let's see....ummm
the pitch is at 0% and the bpm 140...
then for it to match bpm 145
it has to play 145/140 = 1.0357
soooo the record that plays 140 bpm at +0% pitch plays at 145 bpm at +3.57 pitch
that what u mean?
ehhh dunno if it's right, it IS my weekend ya know ;) |

| Well all i know is percentage is worked out by smallest divided my biggest times 100, for example 140bmp/150bmp times 100 |

If u get 150/140 *100 = 107% that only means that 150 is 7% greater than 140, which is 150 = 140 + 7% of 140 (aprox. 10) =150 u see?:D:D |
well that is how i was told to do it on my calculator, that formula works anyway for every number, so that is what i use, it is easy to use for me anyway |
