Mixing Chillout/Balearic House

Hey all, I had a quick question. I'm expanding a bit from trance into Chill and Balearic House. I was wondering a few things.

1. How does one mix songs that have no beat? Should I be listening for phrases that line up with the chord progression, and mix like that, praying for the absence of a key clash?

2. So my plan is to start my longer sets with chillout, and slowly let the melodic lines warm up into some of my normal trance. And special hints for speeding up tracks that are all melody? Other than *very* slowly?

Thanks for any info, and I'd love to hear anyone else's experiences with this. Thanks!

Although it might not have a drum beat (ie a kick drum) as such, it will still have a time sig.
You do it the same way you cue up or mix in intros of tracks, you listen, then pick out the inherent pulse in the music and use that.

I was wondering about this topic too. Would the same be said for mixing something like buddha bar tracks as well.
