For those of you who were unable to make it out tonite to Godskitchen, I'm truly sorry! That was an absolutely amazing night. Eddie was truly the best dj that I have ever seen......and I am usually not one to critique mixing and bt that was for sure the best that I have seen/heard ever. (just as was Johan Gielen) So which leads me to my main point of this thread......SOMEONE NEEDS TO PROMOTE FOR GODSKITCHEN!!!! It has not been promoted anywhere near to its potential, we had an amazing night yet agian, to think we've been partying since the boat cruise with AVB!!
I really think that all the TA's need to make more of an effort to help with this minor glitch....and begin to get the party happening there on fridays nights!!!

there was a sign on the video screens that said:
WHERE ARE THE TOTA'S??
funny!!:p
my first non-UK, non-IBIZA GK nite in canada!! how incredible!
despite all the negative rumours on TA lately, i have to say i had quite a nice time down there tonite! the staff were
extrememly nice ...
yes, lots of ginas and ginos, but nonetheless a cool nite! ...
halliwell rocked it the proppa Birmingam GK nite style, as i know it! (yes, quite unbelievable, me + trance = lol!!)
...the sound was INSANELY loud!!! ... the lasers reminded me of being back in the UK! ...
it was just great being outside & down by the water ...a full moon and starlit nite.
a bit of the UK GK vibe did come through but there weren't that many people ...
anyways, i'm tired and not able to think anymore ... so i'm just gonna baske in the morning sunrays now. GOODNITE! :)
some pics. sorry for the size:

Frank and I ~crazy!: :D

my roommate, Aaron, and I ~full moon down by the beach:

i managed to get in with my gf for free which was cool (same senario as gielen...so i'm really loving the docks right now for being able to see great djs for free) The docks still looks breathtaking...i really don't understand how ppl could say bad things about it...IMO it is the nicest looking club i've ever seen. Being on the waterfront on a perfect nite is just incredible! They tweeked the system a bit since gielen, and i noticed a substantial difference...its a really good system in there...they didn't even cheap out on the little rooms, cause there systems are just as good!
Anyways, i was a little bummed out about not seeing Nu NRG like i had planned. I was really in the mood for seeing non-stop epic trance all nite. So that kinda drew me a little bit from eddie's set since it was mostly hard edge'd stuff. But i will give him a lot of credit, cause he truely is a wizz behind that mixing board, he can do some really cool stuff always 100% on time and lays down some really cool breakbeats! i left early at like 2:45 cause my gf and I were both really tired for some reason. But all in all we had a fairly good time. but i wish i saw nu nrg :( |

after seeing eddie at homelands, i totally wanted to hear him again, so i was quite excited for yesterday. as soon as we got there though, i felt like i was on some really bad 18 - 35 package holiday. there were maybe 5 people there, they were dancing to britney outside, and we had to walk through some creepy salsa room when we got in. i have to quote laura when she said "this place goes against everything that i stand for" :p
jondi and spesh bored me to tears, but as soon as eddie came on, it was great. for about 30 minutes. i loved the stuff he was playing at the beginning, including my fave remix of "it just won't do" (yay!), but then it got all trance cheesy on me. and what the was with the soundsystem? we resorted to stuffing toilet paper in our ears cos it was so loud it actually hurt. for a place that has supposedly had a soundsystem upgrade or whatever, they certainly weren't showcasing that.
ahhhh, i just can't do the hard dance wiggle anymore. i don't even remember how i used to dance to it when i was in england. i'm old now. :( eddie is absolutely fantastic at what he does, great energy, i just would have preferred the more funky, stuff that he started off with. the last couple of tracks were better again, especially the scratching :D, but overall not my cup of tea. was hoping he would sound more like he did when we heard him a few weeks ago. and i can't believe how few people there were there.
and ps. - i'm NEVER going back to the docks again! holy , what was the deal in the parking lot after? if you're going to talk to people in their cars, and hold up the traffic, ing don't do it in the queue to get out.
oh well, at least we didn't have to pay! :D |

| Awwwww... sucks I missed this...it looks awesome you guys and I definitely agree With Dnmr - we partied so great at Johan Gielen together and that place needs TOTAs...really super cool venue and we gotta get it going. I just wish I wasn't there last night :( Especially after reading an article where Tiesto said that Eddie Halliwell is one of the best DJs out there technically right now :( |

| Had an awesome time and yeah laughed when I saw the "Where are all the TOTAs?" visual on all the screens! Too cool. Jondi and Spesh warmed up the crowd in the main room in place of Manzone and Strong who spun in the side room. They were actually pretty good - liked some of the tracks they threw down. Eddie played an exceptionally harder set than I had heard him play previously in the UK - didn't hear much of his trademark scratching until later on in the night when he really started doing some funky stuff with Tiesto's Traffic. Pretty cool. Crowd was as usual but seems to be getting a bit busier - I knew most of the TOTAs would be at NU-NRG but honestly it was a great night and hopefully once the new patio's done, it'll get a bit more hyped. Definitely a lot of potential on this night. DJ Hyper on the 9th. |

Okay....I promised myself I would not work with this much sleep deprivation but I keep on breaking it. Anyway, after my gf and Manda's review of Eddie at Homelands I knew this was a non miss. The venue was ty IMO (cuz of extreme volume of the soundsystem)
and there was no crowd....but he still rocked it. My fave dj now for his tenacity to hype a crowd of 10,000 or 10 crazies. Yup maybe 10 or so Eddie freaks goin nuts like it was the Beatles on Ed Sullivan and rest it was another romantic hoping you can get some evening at the Docks. I missed all TOTA's but I know they went to happenin show too.
Con's of the evening.....the volume of their soundsystem is retardly loud to the point of pain.
I grew up playing in bands and I knew that level was dangerous. I will defintely try to remember to get plugs at other shows.
Hopefully TR can get him next time. ;) |

I did manage to make it down to the Docks but I found the sound to be too loud??? Maybe I was still use to Boa from 2 nights ago but if they have the Alpha Dynacord system, I still heard a lot of crackling?
And yes, there were lots of Ginos and Ginas
I do agree there has to be a bigger push to promote Godskitchen. From what I saw with the crowd last night, I don't think many people knew what GK was about? It's a shame too, a lot has been put into this venue since last year. |

Hands down Eddie is the man. The guy has got mad skills. That mix of "Traffic" was amazing. I hope he makes his way back here soon and theres not another party happening that night because I know the TOTA's will go off.
peace

Best thing I heard on Friday (I think gamma or 247 had irish_graham saying it):
"Hi, my name is Eddie Halliwell and I've been up mixing this compilation for 22 hours straight, I hope you enjoy the tunes".
;) hehemwahahabaha! |
