Help Audigy 2!: can't you get <10ms when running multiple (heavy!) VSTi's at once?!!!

OK guys, I will need your help cause I will be stuck with a basic Audigy 2 card (not even Platinum, EX or ZS) for a couple of weeks so please help me with following:

I was wondering if there are people where who use the basic Audigy 2 card (or Audigy 1) with its ASIO 1 driver and can tell me how low latency they can set when running multiple VSTi's at once in Cubase (or similar), especially if those are heavy VSTi's like Albino, Z3ta, etc..

Is it true you can't get below 10ms when running multiple VSTi's with this card, even if you work at 48kzh in Cubase?!

Also, how good are the latest updated SB ASIO drivers for this card or do you have to use those kx drivers?! I know its only ASIO 1 with the basic Audigy 2, but I don't like to install other drivers that perhaps don't work as well with other things like games, etc.. which I also like to play from time to time..

There must be lots of people using the basic Audigy 2, so please post a reply with your experiences (which VSTi's you use at once, which host and the latency you can get, etc..)! Thanks in advance for all good feedback!!!

- Mike.

there seems to be a lot of Qs reguarding latency problems with Creative cards (audigy imperticular) here is a solution... GET A NEW CARD.. Creative cards are absolutly horrible for production.. (I know from experience)

you're going to get that latency no matter what VSTis you use. If it's lagging, it's becuase your CPU can't handle it or the ASIO drivers on your card suck..

Hey, what do I care, I don't produce in real time... latency means nothing to me.

but then again, the sound quality could .... today i installed emu1212 card in my pc, and i could swear the sound quality improved. the bass was better defined, the highs were nicer, with more air .....
that was something i wasn't expecting at all. oh yeah, and i forgot ... i owned an audigy 1 bulk card before.

Well yeah, I noticed that too from going from SB Live to Audigy 2 too, but I'm not that much of an audiophile... I was also on a tight budget when building this PC so it was an obvious choice for me. But as long as everything goes smoothly I see no reason to change :)

Well, neither am I. And the difference is surely greater for me than it was for you, I switched from Creative to Emu, you switched from Creative (with Emu10k1 chip) to Creative (with Emu10k2 chip) which is not all that different.
And you got your point there - as long as you are satisfied, that's it. Nothing else counts. But there are better solutions ;)
