Meeting people from online IRL

I know most of us have met people from tranceaddict in real life at clubs or TA meetups or whatever, but has anyone ever had any luck finding any romance through the net? I've heard of friends of friends hookin up with people they met of the net, but never actually spoke to anyone personally.
The reason I ask is because I'm thinking of meeting up with a girl who lives near me that I met on match.com. I imagine it'd be awkward as hell tho :nervous:

I met my girlfriend over the net, she lives about 30 minutes away from me.
We weren't going to meet up but the i had a family crisis (my sister was raped). So she decided to see me the day after because of how upset i was.
Yes it was awkward at first, but just ask "how are you" and im sure you can go from there.
I've been with my girlfriend 16 months now and we may be getting engaged soon...if that isn't proof that it works then i dont know what is!

My case was that I met someone on holidayy in mid 2000 and we used the net for everyday chats, with her coming down whenever she could, it helped having the regular way of talking etc and lasted from june 2000 to september 2002, so not bad at all |

Well if it wasn't for ta I would have never met my boyfriend. As many of you know Scottaculous and I have been together for about 8 months now. We have a wonderful relationship with each other. It works. Best of Luck to you!

i met one of my bf's online, he was the longest one i had..
i think net meeting is great bc you can actualy find ppl (either as friends or as a relationship) who you have something in common with, rather then an actual club, bar, class. dont get me wrong i'mnot saying you cant find someone you have something in common with other then net, but i think its a lot easier online. enspecialy if your a shy person.
personality is what matters a lot more...
