Everything dj: Mark O

i wouldnt call lawler a tribal dj
yes he plays SOME tribal house but his sound is much broader than that of a "tribal house dj"...id even say that tribal doesnt even make up 25% of his sets if that...
hes more of a straight up house dj (plays all kinds of house) than anything else imo...
anyways... |
finally someone straightened this out! ;) agreed, Steve L isn't tribal at all, more like all-around house DJ.
Fav. All-Around House DJ Internationally - Lee Burridge
Electro - Craig Richards/B.L.I.M
Techno - Dave Clarke

LMFAO...are you serious?
GU Lights Out 2
Lawler Live @ The Mission in Bucharest, Romania 02.04
case closed.
Every DJ strays a subgenre or two during their sets and releases. Steve is tribal. End of story. |

i agree he was more tribal around 2000/2001 but i still would have called him a house dj...he started out as a house dj and thats what he remains as...
his compilations i never felt were an accurate representation of his livesets...hes always been TOTALLY different LIVE...
ps. u guys should check out his 1998 e-mix and then let me know what u think...

dead serious.
have u seen him play out live?
ps. thanks for the examples, they further prove my point. yes steve plays tribal, no-one is arguing that but are those sets entirely made up of all tribal house music or do they blend various styles of house together?
do u think tracks on the mission set like
more lemonade, stupidisco, acid test, lost, over, i feel love, london night, hablando, reach, our house, ride and all the other ones i cant ID :whip: :p are tribal tunes?
lawler === house dj

I agree. Lawler like Danny Tenaglia can't be pigeon holed as a "Tribal DJ". They both spin diverese sets, and like Danny's GU CD's, Lights out is not an accurate reflection on the type of set that Lawler would drop live.
