| Then the problem is based in explorer not IE. you are probably going to have to reinstall. |

i get the same problem. it usually happens when i try and open a window with movie files, all that are about 700megs.
It seems like explorer trys to load them into RAM and then when i look in Task Manager, explorer is using 100% of my resources.
Ive combated the problem in the past by reformatting, and installing xp, but id like not to do this.
it seems to be ok for a while, and then a few months down the road the problem starts again. please help! |

The problem you are having is probably with the thumbnails and video previews.
The video preview is the biggest problem . If windows media player does not have the codec for the video it can crash explorer when you click on the file. Stupid F***ing microsoft. Try the preview fix first.
You can turn off the thumbnails(screen shot icons) by right clicking in the folder and choosing view change the view type to anything other than thumbnail.(this change will only affect the current folder. You will have to repeate for each folder that is a problem)
You can turn off the previews by choosing tools folder options and selecting use windows classic folders. (This change will affect all folders at once) You will also lose all of the links and tools on the left side of explorer window.
ALTERNATE FIX:
use windows explorer instead of the "my computer" explorer. |

| its funny, because this only happens a few months down the road after formatting. I just formatted again, and there is no problem. Im just waiting to see how long it takes. |
