I disagree. Portugal didn't really outclass anyone in this tournament. They deserved to beat Holland, and deserved to beat Russia although the referee played an important part. The other four games Portugal lacked creativity and were lucky to make the final, I'd say 3 of their 6 games were poor performances. Greece only had one bad game out of six. |

Well I'm sorry but in MY eyes having a solid defense and an incredible amount of luck does not make them worthy of being european champions. Portugal deserved the cup, they had heart, while greeks were only defending. Portugal was the stronger team and the greeks knew it.
But I guess you don't care about that, all that matters to you is that one lucky corner kick goal.

Greece's style of play is irrelevant - in the end - it won them the championship.
IMO I think Portugal deserved to be in the final more in 2000 than this year... and... if we played anywhere near the way we did in that tournament then we would have beat Greece - there was nothing spectacular in Portugal's play in the final game - yes the Greeks were amazing on defence - but - with all the apparent skill on paper the Portuguese have they should have found a way to get the ball in on goal. |

| If we talk about 'deserving' the championship, I say Czech Republic deserved to win! The played the best soccer and won all their group matches, 3-0 win in the quarters and were very unlucky against Greece (silver goal in the last seconds):nervous: |

Same as in the finals. Greece isn't able to do to score, the stronger team dominates the game, greeks get lucky on a corner kick and keep defending. Game over.

i have to agree with everything you said on there. in 2000 it felt unjust not to reach the final (even though we lost to a team that played as good or better than us), this year we just took advantage of fantastic single moments from particular players (goals of maniche vs holland, rui costa vs england, nuno gomes vs spain) - as a team we were pretty average. |

Oh man deal with it Portugal couldnt beat Greece TWICE in a month, not only could they not beat them but LOST both times.
Greece beat France (defending champions), and Czech Republic (team of the moment). They also managed to hold Spain to a draw.
Lest we forget, this came from a team that would have been happy if they went out at the group stages with one victory.
Soccer games, never mind tournaments, are decided on goals and defences. Not who had more ball possession, who played "better" football, who deserved to win and all that loser talk. Greece are the champions, no other team deserved it more or else they would have won. Kudos to Greece! |

Greece played boring football and relied on luck and its defence to wait out the clock, and thats why Im so offended at them winning the finals with these tactics. The Greece Czeck game - same thing.
Portugal, on the other had, while a bunch of divers, played interesting football, and really tried to get out there and do something.
Yeah, Ronaldo is crying because he knows he was robbed.
Enjoy your victory, this kind of luck doesn't come around twice. |

Someones cut they got beaten in the Ukraine. Also "lucky goal from corner". Did greece have "6 lucky goals from crosses". Dont talk nonsense Cal, cause you only dig yourself further. The only team that deserved to beat the greekss and were unlucky was Spain. We drew and the rest is history.
One more thing, maybe Deco should stay on his feet a bit more???? or maybe Deco should try shooting from a little closer??? Maybe Figo could have some influence???? Maybbe Ronanldo could use his speed???? If hes worried about greece defending so much why not play more than 1 striker???
Wait this couldnt happen because the greeks were stronger, quicker, smarter more efficient and clinical. But that doesnt make em champions does it Cal? TO be champion team you have to around with the ball and forget the aim of the game is to score!
You forget one thing Cal, to win a football game you need to score...something Greece did in every game.
Therefore Greece 1 Cal 0
