Beware Club Contests

So there was a link posted for a free draw for Global Gathering Tix on TA a few days before it was scheduled.
Having friends come in to town, I figured I'd save them the guestlist hassle, and enter my email as the entry.
I recieved a reduced-list "prize" as compensation for my time, and I thought nothing of it.
Until today I recieved two emails sharing the promoter's name in front of the @guvernment addy but not for Guvernment, related to a slew of events he/she is throwing.
There was no spam/removal disclaimer offer, just a straight email with the flyers for their personal events attached, to which I have replied, asking to be removed. I also informed them their poaching actions were illegal.
I'm not overly bothered by this, and certainly Guv doesn't have a thing to do with it, but rather annoyed @ the lack of decorum this promoter displayed. Everyone I know who sends me stuff for their events has the usual ** if you do not want to recieve these updates... etc** or a removal link.
Anyone else here get these spam mails... perhaps Tiesto?? :tongue2 |

Well I had my normal contest for Global Gathering on TA and everything ran smoothly.
Here is the link ...

I nevered sent out a mailing list for any kind. I find that really rude/shady when promoters do like that.
Trust me, your e.mail adds have and always be safe with me ... even if someone offers me nuff cash, but I would never do that to you guys. |

Yeah John, definately wasn't you.
I thought it was a thread started on TA, but it was a site linked to me via clubculture.com in their emails I get every few days.
They sent me a link to the contest, I entered my email, and ever since the person who held the contest took it upon themselves to add me to their mailing list.
Hopefully they remove me, if not there will be some interesting consequences.
None of the clubs are involved, or any TA promoters. Seems someone decided to profit off a big event. |
