Is anyone here aware of titles of books that cover the history of EDM, and techno in particular? I would love to read a good book about it (e.g., how things started in New York and Detroit), yet I haven't been able to find any.. I'm sure there must be one or two good ones.
Search over here did not result in anything useful. And yes, that overview written by tta gave me the idea. |

| The Rough Guide-series are very good tools for background stories on the biggest profiles of various genres. There is one for house, techno (by Tim Barr + contributors), hip hop, drum n bass, classical and country + loads more. Check www.roughguides.com/music/ |

house guide and techno guide leave out a few people but it is great for learning about people. Same with the drumnbass book as well, which has a cool section on bigbeat.
