my god...were they ing beautiful! you could hear them coming before you see them. and they fly by so fast all you see is a blur of colour rushing by! there were oceans of ppl and i was stuck quite far back initially, but then i managed to make my way pretty damn close to the front. i didn't see ferrari because that was in the beginning when i was stuck in the back :( , but i saw bmw, mclaren and jaguar for sure. just hearing them was orgasmic...nevermind actually seeing them! damn...if only i got to touch the cars...hahaaa

I was there too... i only decided to come down pretty late with my mates so we settled for a place at the back of waterloo place... view was crap but the noise and atmosphere was amazing.

:whip: to people who were moaning about it - what are you expecting for free - a f***ing grandstand or something?!

i'm not a big F1 fan but it'd be brilliant if they brought the grand prix to the streets of london.... just seeing the cars at 70 MPH was great, let alone the full throttle!

Altho it also did show how crap our transport system is - all stations anywhere near it all closed, i had to walk from miles away... and these people think we have a reasonable chance of hosting the olympics... no way! our infrastructure would just collapse  :sadgreen: :p

 I didn't realise it'd be like that or I would've gone for sure :whip: I thought they'd be towd or something I dunno lol. So naive :(

London mayor Ken Livingstone has thrown his weight behind proposals for a Grand Prix in the capital.

Livingstone gave the idea his backing just a day before F1 cars are due to run down Regent Street.

The event was conceived as a way of promoting this weekend’s British GP at Silverstone. But the Northamptonshire circuit could soon face some competition for its blue riband race if Livingstone has anything to do with it.

He told the Evening Standard: “We would need to negotiate about routes and costs but I’m definitely backing a Grand Prix for London.

“The Grand Prix is already a phenomenal global spectacle, watched by some 400 million people worldwide. This is truly big business and London’s economy and tourist industry would benefit significantly.”

Livingstone has already discussed the matter with F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone.

Harvey Goldsmith, who is promoting Tuesday’s event in Regent Street, also believes a London Grand Prix is a very real possibility.

He said: “If they can do it in Monte Carlo and if they could do it on the streets of Adelaide, I don’t see why we can’t do it in London.”

But Goldsmith warned that the race could not simply be run in London as a one-off.

He said: “Any new event normally takes three or four years before it starts to take on its own life, but with a long-term commitment I think there would be a huge upside.

“If we’re going to be the best city in the world we have to be able to put on the best events.

“And a London Grand Prix would be one of the very best.”

Come on!!!!!!!!

To be honest, silverstone would be much better... it was just great for someone like me who would never go to somewhere like silverstone to see, hear and feel the cars :p

of course silverstone would be better...or any actual grand prix event but its just a good chance for ppl who would never actually go to a real one...or can afford to go to a real one like me to see them. although, i am thinking about flying to spain next year with my cousin for it if it dun cost too much.
