nope, it actually works. My friend got one. They pay for the ipods with ad revunue. If it was a complete scam, do you think they'd be affiliated with big companies like AOL and Columbia House? |
anything remotely associated with AOL can only be bad |

Ok, so I called the number to cancel, and they asked me for my name and email address, and I gave it to them. Weird thing is, the lady asked me to write down this confirmation code... what's it for? She DID say that: "Your suscription (or account, I can't remember) will be promptly closed." So if it's going to be closed, will there be an email asking me to put in a confirmation code? Because I haven't gotten one yet. :nervous:
Hahaha, you can tell I don't wanna be scammed for $99.95 |

Yeah...I just cancelled mine a couple minutes ago...got a 15 minute run around...only because I gave a valid argument to cancel. I didn't like the site, it didn't really help me find what ancestral info I was looking for...blah blah....and the guy goes, but you've only been a member for One day of 14 and wanted to send me all these help texts...so i had to explain how first impressions are a big deal and all the spam and adverts associated w/ the site, along with having to sign up for every little thing in there wasn't what I was looking for.
Anyway, got my deal cancelled...got that "confirmation code" though I guess you have it for reference if for some reason you get billed ? or it doesn't actually cancel??? Also, if it was too soon and I lose my referal credit...tough....I was already fed up with putting my CC # down for something I didn't want :D
I wonder how many thousand cancellations they get an hour ....hahah...what a crappy job to have :D
Also...glad i just created some random yahoo mail adress for this...I've already gotten like 11 stupid messages (including login/account stuff) in less than 12 hours...funny
and yes: Advise if there is some place where this confirmation code needs to go!!!! :nervous: :nervous: :nervous: :thepirate |

I'm pretty sure it's just a refferal number to show that you cancelled your account |

Since it's a numbers game...(pyramid ...conga...whatever) To do it "correctly" all people that "sign up" use the TOP person on the list. Click their link and join up. Then post your link...it will go on the list. Once the top person gets their 5...they get removed from the list (as long as the list is continually edited/updated. Now the next person is on top of the list to get their 'referrals' ...and so on. So, yeah...the further down it goes the more "total" people that have to sign up to get down the list.
As it gets longer, it gets a bit tougher....but I was all for helping one person get their chance at a freebie...even if it doesn't make it to me on the list. I've read enough in other forums to show that some people that completed the program did infact get an ipod.
Also, if you get outside referrals...other than those on this chain...(i.e...your further down the list, so you go start a thread on another board (fresh meat) where you are on top) so you get your 5 prior to the "top" person on the list....make sure to let the editor know...so as to remove your name, and not give you referrals that other people could use to attain said goal.
If one person gets a freebie...I say it works...scheme or not :D We are all helping eachother. |

And how exactly does that make it NOT a pyramid scheme? |

WHat if I actually do drop 100$ on one of those "deals"...do I automatically get an ipod? Or do you still need five referrals? :wtf:
Either way, a 15GB Ipod is 260$...so you still win...sort of :toothless
Each of the referrals has to put down a credit card too then?
So complicated :nervous:
