I dont see where fairness comes into it. but i kinda see the whole point behind the rule now, i didnt before, it just seemed like a bit of a selfish scam, and i wouldnt have mentioned it if broken silence hadnt bought it up because i thought no one would agree! hehe.

I think your point of view on "taking advantage of producers" isn't correct, it is not at all the case here, Mike. It could be "unfair" in a sence of "common sharing" when some producers share the full 192 version, and others don't. But that's not the case either.

Real quality reviews contain comments on mastering, eq-ing, the real pro e, which is IMO the most difficult but so important part in producing. One can't give these comments on 96 or sometimes even 128 kbps tracks! You do want to know what still lacks about your tracks.

I don't like hearing crappy sounds from my speakers. So I make sure I don't play bad quality.

Another thing is, you need to have good and trained ears if you want to be a quality producer. It's good to listen to other (amateur!) tracks often and learn from their skills. That's not done with bad quality tracks.

In short:

Pro: you get way better feedback; it's way more comfortable for the reviewer. (and the reviewer actually learns more from your stuff as well IMO)

Contra: Chance 1 in a million some part is ripped. Ow dear.

you guys are completley unrealistic. it isnt a one in a million chance. dario g vs dj scooby is one example, a few of sash's first releases (not his absolute first, i think it was his second and third) were direct steals off of mp3.com, in which he ended up settleing. and what carries even more weight is that i KNOW somoene who its happened to.

its not an issue about clipping the outro mate- my production partner's case was that it was chopped and looped from the middle.

i'd like to be able to still post tracks here, so like i said earlier, im not changing anyones mind. do any of you know a good free hosting site for me to host on?

www.wire.fm seems an ok one for me.

theres a lot of ing winging in here that really isnt necessary. if u dont like it, dont post. i dont give a if u do and im sure many others dont either. One problem is that a lot of people seem to think their work is "signable" and they are so worried about not letting it get out that they dont actually see that their stuff is and dont have a chance of being signed or ripped off or whatever.

Theres just too many arrogant producers around atm, isnt this all just about making music and sharing it with others?
broken silence
when did i ever mention signing or signable work? i only said that i dont think that there should be a rule about posting certain kbs mp3 files on the forum!

you people are acting like im attacking your ing livley hood by questioning one of the rules on the forum. chill the out and listen to what im saying.
Stephano
If you're really that concearned about people stealing your ideas, then why don't you register it? You could then go to a record company with it, and if they don't like it, you can still post it here. That way, your work is protected and you still have some feedback.

:)

Everybody has listened to what you're saying. Most have disagreed. End of, really....

I'm gonna stick my neck out and suggest that after all this moaning, you'll probably not get much feedback now regardless of what quality you post yor tunes.

You were perfectly justified in raising the question in the first place but it's really time to step down now, and to decide if you're willing to accept the way things are or if you'll be looking elsewhere for your track-posting needs.

if you've done a tune and its a real burner the best and way to protect it from larceny is to send a copy of it to your own house per certified mail. after that you can release it on the net or wherever. the chop and date on your certified mail prove that you where first.

I might still download his tracks, if the quality is at least 128 kbps :P

I don't know why people worry so much about stuff being stolen. It ain't that big a deal and the chance of dying in a car accident is bigger. This doesn't stop you from getting into a car does it.. or do you go like "No I'll go by bike".

I was wondering the same thing - is there anyone on THIS forum who has had his/her track stolen? I'm curious...

Posting below 96kbps should be your own choice I think, not really an existing 'rule'. Above 160 seems too much maybe, cause at some points even 128 kbps works fine to judge about 90% of the track/remix. I personally don't like (awfully) lofi samples, simply because I think it doesn't do your music any good. Commenting is rather impossible as well - that is if you want any help with it. If you're just trying to show off, like some do, then well that's your own choice. It just won't do you any good me thinks.

Same goes for artists who 'steal' another's work. It won't do them any good at all. Getting a bad name could be deadly now in the trance scene as it is.

my first reason thing, mk-s-Illuminate(Massive Remix)

after i posted it on TA , some dude named it Peter Ford remix, and its on the hub as peter ford.

i never understood, my remix wasn't even good, but instead of me saying wtf(well i was a bit confused) i said, cool someone liked my remix that much, he wished he made it :D.

yeah, I came to these conclusions about your tracks being stolen:
1. You are now aware your work is good enough to be protected.
2. Be happy someone likes it. (Kind Of weak, I know)
3.If the track wasnt a freak accident and youve worked hard to be at the level youre at, you can come out with another one, and this time youll send it to labels after getting critisism on it from only trusted people (Im sure you could just ask certain people on the forum to check it out for you.
4. Hopefully the mother****** that stole it will one day try to make a track of his own and than be the laughing stock of the industry..
Hope I dont sound like I know more than I do, cause I really dont know about the Biz. hehe I wish I did.. but just my take
