Need help to clean my keyboard and make it 1337

First things first: my keyboard is filthy. After my father spilled ink in the keyboard, some of the keys are green now. Also, as time passes by, the keys get this greyish colour.
I know I could just clean it with alcohol and stuff, but as I'm the only one who uses this keyboard and the Latin alphabet kinda confuses me when I write in Korean or Russian, I'd like to erase the keys, so when you look at the keyboard there are no letters printed in it. I don't know how to properly say it in English, so I can't google it. I know all keys anyway as I've been using this keyboard for 6 years now, so it wouldn't matter.
Has anyone done it? Does anyone know what I could do? Cheers :) |

If your keyboard's anything like mine you'd probably have to scratch the letters off the keys.
(and on another note, how come I'd never heard of you until yesterday and since then we've met in at least 20 threads :conf: ) |

Did you start posting in different forums? Either way, I believe you've even quoted myself sometimes in the past, mate, but I used to go by the name "Maaz", in case it rings a bell :)
edit: I used alcohol, kerosene, toothpaste and ammonia but it didn't work :( Well, the "esc" key is now as clean as it's never been though :D |

| sad to say but im imagining that there is probably not a solvent that will help remove the key markings. maybe one idea is to get some very fine grain sandpaper and**lightly** go over the surface of each key? |

good luck, I think they make most keyboards to withstand a lot of rubbing and friction.
so if no chemicals work sand em down a bit then paint them. |

| If your keyboard isn't a high-end one and it's really bothering you that much you could just purchase a new one? |

Doesn't it damage the white painting as well? Meh, I'll keep this in mind, but isn't there a more subtle way?

I'm poor, new keyboards require mucho money :p
And it's not bothering me THAT much, I just think it would look better. |

Depending on the grade of sandpaper you get and how careful you are, you should be able to remove the ink without damaging much if any of the original keys. You will need either "Extra Fine" or "Super Fine" grit sandpaper to do this! I recommend buying a sandpaper with a grit of no less than 300 if youre going to attempt this at all. Another thing I thought of is a comercial ink remover, something very strong and concentrated that might be able to be applied to the keys. Perhaps it the keys could also be removed and soaked in this Another option you may consider is to completely repaint the keys though this would be very tedious :nervous:
Maybe try calling a few office supply chains (staples, office max, etc) or similar type stores and see if they can recommend anything |

| You could make a fun project out of it and painstakingly repaint each individual key into a nice pattern :p |

I think this could actually make a very nice art project, or maybe like custom keyboards for hard core gamers who want their handle airbrushed across the tops :tongue2
(works great for TA post whores too!) |
