Hello,

This question is more towards you bike buffs. Well heres the deal...I would like to purchase my first bike. I got my permit about a year ago, took the bike course offered and got my license. I now think its time I get one for my own.
I found the following:

1994 Yamaha FZR-600.
Has about 17000 miles on it.

Recent Maintenance
Brand new battery and regulators
New Brakes
New paint job less than one year ago. A beautiful metallic blue color.
New Smoked windscreen
New halogen headlights
Very nice yoshimura exhaust pipe
Oil changed every 2500 miles
Spark plugs changed 1500 miles ago.

Bike comes with rear seat cover (blue), motorcycle cover, and a matching blue helmet.

"Bike is in great condition. There are a few scratches, as described below, and shown in the pictures. As far as running condition, it runs as good as the day it was rolled off the line. First owner was a friend of mine. I am the second owner, and both of us maintained the bike very well.

As you can see in the pictures, the bike was knocked over in a parking lot, and the right fairing was scratched a bit, as well as the right brake handle bent slightly. The bike has been ridden for over 1000 miles since then without any trouble."

Here is the dilema. It is New Jersey and I live in Massachusetts so I can't actually go see it in person and test drive it. He is asking 2000 for it and will deliver it to me for about 70 dollars to cover gas and tolls.

Do you guys think I should go ahead and get it? Will appreciate all and any feedback and suggestions.

Thanks

Here are some pictures of it:

Thats a good bike, a good price, and a good exhaust. The paint is easily fixed, and that bike will look good with some armorall and a good waxing.

I would say go for it. If it turns out to be raw, clean it up and sell it for 200 bucks more.

Have you look at cycle trader ? Great site usually pretty sweet deals on it. My friend got an 1100 cc 96 ninja for 2600 off there, perfect condition.

Anyways, I would browse around, but if this is the best deal you can find, Id go for it. Then again, Im impulsive and tend to buy the first thing to fit my requirements hehe.

A '94 FZR600 for $2000? That sounds very good methinks. And especially for a first bike, most people I've talked to recommend a mid-'90s 600 sportbike, as I'm sure you already know. And he's going to bring it to YOU for a measly $70??

I'd snap it up in a second. Assuming it ain't a lemon...

I smell a rip off. The guy's in New Jersey, and you're in Massachusetts. For only $70 delivery charge, that's kind of far-fetched IMO. Other thing is, did he tell you what the paint scratch is from? Looks like he bit the dust on a sharp turn.

nah, i dropped my bike on pavement and it did the same. Your bike gets a LOOTTTTTT more messed up if you are moving at all

the bike looks decent, i had a '99 FZR 600, they are nice bikes. i would say that they are one of the best bikes to learn on because they are light and easy to handle. i would say go for it. if your not really to sure, pick up the motorcycle trader and see what people have for sale in your area. $2000 is not a bad deal though
