how can i get a cda file off a cd and into an editing program such as cool edit?
hey cheggy
cool edit should have an extract audio from cd option
Timothy
How can you store your music in cda anyway?

.CDA is just windows' interpretation of the .wav files on a CD that are burned in an audio CD format (vs. data cd) - windows does this becuase it's crappy

you can't drag and drop the .cda files from your disk.. you need a ripper to rip it to .wav and then you can edit it in your audio editor.. I recommend CDEX (freeware) to rip/encode your CDs..

In some intelligence editors you can drag and drop too :D

can u retain the original sound quality with cdex??

i havnt really had time to fiddle around with it but and at first attempt, the sound quality was reduced

ill play around with it

cda's are like a shortcut to the wav that windows uses so that you cant just copy the cda's across. thats where CDEX comes into play as aforementioned

yes, it will retain original quality if you rip to wav files, and do not code to mp3. if the quality suffers anyway, use a different cd-rip mode. or use exact audio copy from www.exactaudiocopy.de

hey! mptrees can be hi-quality as well! you just need to rip to 192 :p
