Hey everyone
just writing another of my semi frequent apreciation threads.
I'm asking you to name a track that is an absolute masterpiece. A track you find to be perfect in every way.
Please don't name your fav track of the moment, or some track you used to love when you were high as a kite. I mean a track that no matter how old it is or how many times you have listened to it in the past... every time you hear to it, you get that feeling inside and you want to go mental.
the one im doing all over again is
Jet Set & Plastic Angel - Lost in Trance
is this track not in supurb? I've listened to this one over the past 5 years I don't know how many times, and even though I may get tired of it, after a while I will throw it on and it will grow on me again.
ing brilliant track, its not my #1 fav of all time, but I have a feeling that when I'm 40 years old, I'll want to listen to that one the most. Perhaps by then it could become my fav track of all time.
I mostly like how every sound in that track compliments the song. In other words every sound works perfect together. |

Firstly, I don't think any track is perfect in every way. I'm not sure that's even possible, because some themes and moods tend to be mutually exclusive. Different tracks have different strengths and different weaknesses.
But given the critera you've given, two come to mind that fit somewhat:
Sasha - Xpander
Way Out West - Activity |

Firstly, do you even know what mutually exclusive means? it means or is a contradiction.
secondly are you implying that I believe that a perfect track only exists when someone qualified says it is? A perfect track is only perfect to the person who says it is. and thats all I'm asking is for people to provide me with what they think is perfect.
you are wrong about perfect music not existing. in all genres there are songs that people will consider to be perfect, because of whatever their reasons
Thirdly I dont appreciate you trying to turn my thread into an arguement, thats not what this is for... especially when your argument doesnt hold any water and you make up catch phrases that don't fit into context.
thank you for your examples of perfect tracks however, I appreciate it, but please for future, dont turn an innocent thread into a debate.
sorry about that, but your response was bugging me for some reason. |

Good lord, what are you so agitated about? If anyone is attempting to conjure up debate, I think you just did in this reply. I was merely providing my opinion on what perfect means to me, as a preface to what I was going to list, since I can't realistically think of any track as perfect. Nowhere was I attempting to say that perfect cannot have different meanings in music for different people.
"Mutually exclusive" is an extremely common phrase in the english language. So common, in fact, that it is found in most dictionaries. That's hardly "making up catch phrases that don't fit into context."
If you want to get down to particulars of some objective definition of perfection, that's a different story. Some would argue, like you seem to, that there is no objective perfection and that it can only be understood at a subjective level. But why you would drag all that philosophical garbage out of my simple statement, I do not know. |

I think that song is pretty cheesy. I mean all it has is that syncopated synth with an alright chord progression. I don't know what combinations of sounds you are talking about. That TS-404 synth in the background is really nothing special...typical of cheese.
I would consider something like "Flying" by Valentino a work of trancy art, especiall the Sultan & Greek remix. Then "A Tear in the Open" by Tiesto. Also tracks like "Believe" by Gus Gus come to mind. There are many like that. BTs older works are almost all works of art. I mean compare "Flaming June" to your "lost in trance"...
Just my $0.02 |

I can actually agree with you on that because it does have all the elements of cheese. at least cheese these days, but that was a long time ago.
but you are right musically its nothing too complex, but something about it makes it really easy to listen to, and uplifts me personally. And essentially that is what music is supposed to do.
pattern wise, and melody wise its nothing too crazy, but it works very well with what the artist was trying to do. those sounds like i said work very well together, and I really enjoy the 2 step key change near the end. and of course I really love the melody itself

it was done in 1996 and with 160 BPM.. it was really a big hit in that time but to be honest its kind of cheesy nowadays but for that time
it was good... .)
