can't you just connect the speakers to your mixer and monitor?
*need some more info on your setup |

ok so i have my powerbook, i got a USB Powerwave Griffin sound device, which has rca in and out. im using a logitech z560 sub as the amp, which is connected to the sound device, and to the amp i have jensen 3 way speakers.
i go to sound options and put sound input to Line in, and theres a Sound input Meter and it sgoing.. like theres dound, so it hears the sound but doesnt play it through the speakers which is what im tryin to do |

what program on the mac are you using to record?
there may be an option in it where you can turn on monitoring of the inputs.
does your DJ mixer have a rec out and a master out? if it does, just connect the speakers to the mixer when you are recording so you can monitor through the mixer (which is the best thing to do when you are mixing).
you can also jsut get a seperate RCA y cable and connect the computer directly to your mixer as one of the inputs |

I'm sorry but for Sound and Graphic applications macs blow the PC's out of the water. Pro Tools is soo much better on Mac as is Reason, Final Cut Pro is wonderful for Mac as is Photoshop.
Not to mention Mac color balancing makes most PC's look like a joke. |

Ugh god damn it
I got this program called Sound Studio
It has an option called play-thru.. which is what I needed.. its so I can hear it through the speakers whats coming in line IN
But the fact is.. its delayed, and I need it to be very precise since these are my DJ monitors. Isn’t there a way of doing it?? How come its so easy to do on PC but on MAC its hard, and I need special software to do it? I thought mac was supposed to be so good for studio work
Ugh |

The feature you want is called "hardware playthrough." If you can't get it to work on your program, try a program called "Sound Studio" for Mac.
From the Sound Studio User's Manual:
Page 22: The option “Play Input Audio Through Output Device” turns on software playthrough, which will let you hear the audio coming in on the audio input by playing it on the output device. Some devices have hardware play-through, which does the same thing as software play-through, but much faster. If your device has hardware play-through, you can turn the software play-through off. |
