!During the last year or so, 4 of the most major trance djs released artist albums. Which one was your favorite? Any comments on dj artist albums?
I realize there's people on this board that think all these albums are pure wank, I'm sure. If you think so and feel the need to state it, please state why. I'd rather this not be a flame war:D :D !
For me, it's a toss up. I like Armin's, probably because it has some older tracks like "blue fear" and "communication" on it. I also like Ferry's because there are some killer new tracks like "kyoto" and "sublime" plus it came with a dvd. Tiesto's album is cool, just got it recently. Tiesto is certainly diversifying his sound and venturing down a "darker, moodier and techier" path. Paul Van Dyk's is good, but it's the only one I haven't listened to much, but "crush" is an amazing track. |

76 is a beautiful album...but i voted for right of way in this situation...i think it just takes the cake....
tiestos "just be" wasnt even close (few good songs here and there)
Pvd's "reflections" same story. |

| One thing that I find all these albums have in common is their attempt to showcase these guys as actual "songwriters." Think about all the tracks on these discs that have vocals and venture beyond the standard trance formula. Some examples: Armin's "Burned with Desire," Tiesto's "Just Be", Ferry's "Rock your Body Rock" and there's many more. Definitely trying to reach a broader audience and trying to put themselves on the map re: musicianship. |

76..hands down. Armin is simply amazing! ;)
Reflections is too laid back for my taste. Although PVD's production talent is top notch.
"Just Be" is different. TiJs has drifted away from his usual style which I don't really fancy. Though, 'Forever Today' is one gem of a track.:toocool: |

76 for sure...Great album! Armin + Justine Suissa = incredible. Good vocals and pretty much an end to end good CD, which is rare for a single EDM artist.
Ferry's CD was good too...even with the electro (which I do like), he still gave us some good trance with Kyoto, Sublime, etc. |
