Ive never been to either bahia or ibiza (ive been to brazil though)

But from what ive read, heard and researched Bahia is pure hedonism and music. And there arent as many half baked clueless tourists and the prices are still reasonable. I dont think id ever go to ibiza now considering that its turned into just another overpriced cancun/acapulco type spot according to people i know who have been.

I dont travel to exotic countries just to see drunk americans/brits pissing on a dumpster in the corner... LOL

Music is amazing... i really hope toronto club patrons get back to understanding that its all about the music like it used to be.

my back hurts...

No, not really.

The most "hedonist" place in Bahia would be Porto Seguro, but even there, the conservative culture we live in sometimes show its face. That's the place where many people go to get drunk and snog, but that's about it 90% of the time. For some reason the media tries to explore the erotism of a country that has strong Catholic roots, which is quite contraditory and often distorted.

As for the music, what tunes are you listening to? It's not my cup of tea but I can help you, as the music from Bahia is different from the music from Rio. Living here, you get to know some of these things :D

Two last things:
1. Axé is pronounced "Ah-shair" (think of a Brit saying this)
2. Where in Brazil have you been to? :)

It's the other way round, there are only two good things that come from Rio: Rio funk and the road to São Paulo :D

These are great places for tourism indeed :) Been to Salvador and I know people who went to these other cities.

I went to Iguacu only. But i plan on seeing more of brazil in january. (Most of my time in South America has been spent in Argentina and Uruguay)

As for the conservatism. People told me the same about argentina and trust me when i say there is no way that its conservative. At least not compared to the likes of North America.

Im not into places like Acapulco Mexico, or most of the islands that are basically set up for the american tourist only. Thats what i try to avoid. I know that Salvador is touristy but its still not overrun. What i am saying is that the chances of seeing locals and befriending them there is much greater than the likes of acapulco and ibiza.
