| Does anyone here use Serato Scratch? I was looking for a review compared to Final Scratch. Please let me know. Thanks. |

| I haven't used Serato, but I can tell you, GO FOR IT, I've heard tons of good things, its far superior to Finalscratch, I'm planning to get it myself in the future. |

I already have final scratch, but have recently run into man problems. Pitch isn't holding with it, it is skipping randomly sometimes...
And since they got rid of their support forum it is kinda hard to get help.. =\ |

I do own Serato, but I have been without a mixer, so I haven't been able to use it much since I got the updated 1.1 software.
However, I can tell you right now that their customer service is awesome, and they have been nothing but helpful in the forums trying to iron out any problems. They emailed me when the update came out, and I downloaded it with no problems. With Final Scratch I don't think I ever got into contact with any of their support, even after numerous complaints.
Anyway, hopefully my new mixer will be here this week, and I can post a comprehensive review. Someone remind me . . . :thepirate |

i wanted FS, but after hearing all the horror stories about it, i decided not to buy. im really looking forward to getting Serato. i cant imagine Rane would put out anything that wasnt absolutly top notch.
does anyone know what the best platform is to run Serato on? I was gonna buy a G4 Powerbook for FS, but now im not sure what to get. I havent heard anything on if its more stable on OSX or XP. I will probably still go with the Mac because of the Unix file system. well that and i ing hate windows. |

Don't use the unix file system with OS X, use the apple file system (HFS+ or whatever its called). You still will have a stable os based on unix but I have heard converting to the unix file system can screw up some apps. |

Supposedly it runs equally well on each system, they have designed it so that the XP supported program runs very well, mine has *never* crashed, (knock on wood). FinalScratch would just get tired and go away every once and awhile.
I hate windows as much as the next guy, but the laptop I run SSL on is completely stripped of all programs, and seems to do the job nicely. I even went through and turned off all those background apps that could slow the program. My experience with it so far has been great. However, I think that they do recommend those faster Powerbooks as well. I know I would have one of those if I had the cash. |

I have used both, I have been using FS for 1 year almost.
Don't really beileve the hype. Finalscratch works great! 1.5.4 NEVER had any problems. This was on a 2.4Ghz alienware notebook keep in mind.
Well when i bought my G5 1.5ghz 1gb of ram powerbook G4.
THAT IS WHERE ALL THE PROBLEMS COME!
Ever since Panther FS never ran right.
Even 1.5.3 ran ok but in like 2 hours it starts popping..i think its a gradual memory leak in the coding itself.
I own serato now. I do love the absolute mode and other vinyl control modes. I LOVE that u can backspin like crazy on serato scratch live!
Well I recommend SSL if not get FS if you have a PC laptop..I never ran to any problems. |
