Hi everyone, well im in the midst of buying my first turntable or turntables...and i have come down to these two given my current budget. The numark comes in in a pair with a regular mixer in a dj pack for around 589$CND and well the stantons are just seperate at 199$CND each. I was told that the numarks comes all ready to play and that the stantons dont come with the cartridge/stylus.

I have read a couple of threads regarding hte stanton str830b and i have somewhat of an idea.

I am calling out for any suggestions/remarks/advice regarding my futur purchase. Any stories/opinions...anything really, i need to gather as much info bout them so that i dont screw up....

AND yeah getting techs is out of the question at the moment...and i cant save my cash if my life depended on it.

the floor is yours.

i used to have the tt1650's, they are great to learn on but unfortunatly they are easy to grow out of. the motors are not very strong.. although they are great for holding the pitch as long as you want, but if you move the pitch fader a tiny bit, it is a bit un-responsive or over-responsive (depending on how it feels).

great beginners deck though! they really tech you to keep an ear on everything, and to be very careful. you will find it a piece of piss when you move on to better decks

no experience of the stantons, but my guess is that they will be better than the numarks

I honestly don't have any experience with str8-30s but i did own it's predicessor, the str8-60.

Just to be honest, If you do get into deejaying neither the stanton or numark decks/packs will satisfy you for very long. You will soon outgrow them and desire to buy better stuff. At that point, the most you may get for your turntables if you try to sell them is less than $100. If i were you, i would go to a couple record shops and equipment shops and try to find a used sl-1200 to start w/.

truthfully, their both crap iv used em both and the plater doesent have enough force behind it that your slipmat hardly even slides on it whe you move it , the intire plater moves, id save up for at least str-80's or tt-200's

i would say that is good advice.

chex, bear in mind used techs are still twice the price of 1650's :p:)

Even so, for the cost of two new tt1650s you probably can find one used mk2.

yea i was on the phone with my freind and he gave me the exact same answer as you guys...he says start at least with tt200 or str880's.

I've been also keeping an eye out on ebay...but it just seems right before the bid ends...the price jumps up and ends up not being a deal at all...
