Why do many trance fans ignore the 'psychedelic' side?

The question is simple enough... with such a huge worldwide community of trance fans why do so few dip into the 'psychedelic' side? I use the word lightly because there is such a wide range of sound to be found - you can essentially tack on the prefix 'psy' to techno, progressive, house, breaks, chill-out, and other genres and will have some aspect of "psytrance" covered. With such a wide-range of sound and arguably some of the world's highest production standards, why is it ignored? Infected Mushroom and Shpongle may have broken through, and plenty of people remember Astral Projection... but there is so much more out there and it all seems to go un-noticed by the masses.
No need to tell me 'hey I like psy' cuz I know there's a lot of trance fans with cross-over tastes... the question is really why the myriad varieties of psychedelic trance aren't embraced on a *wider* scale?

Some psy stuff is really good, There's this psy trance outfit here called Nano records, I've listened to some of their stuff and it's quite good.
Btw. Does psy only come on cd's? I've never ever seen anyone play psychedelic trance on vinyl, and the psy sites i've seen offer only cd's... Mind you I haven't really gone out in search of psy tracks just something i've noticed, could be wrong though. |

| It may be that it's not as "catchy" as normal trance, it could be that a lot of the stuff isn't on vinyl, who knows. |

Here in Mexico the psy-trance scene is really big. For me it's quite hard play trance tracks (worse if we talk about upligting...) in some parties beacause people is always asking for some psy-trance.
For most people here in Mexico the psy scene began some years later than in Europe, so a lot of producers like Infected Mushroon, Skazi, Sphongle, Kox Box, and much more found a good place to make live presentations with some regularity.
Also, there are many mexican psy-producers and labels, just ask if you'd like some info.
Personally, I'm waiting only for the moment when trance arise above psy...those gonna be good days...!!!! :D |

Yes... Psy-trance comes on vinyl aswell...
I can garuntee that Astral Projection and DJ Guy Salama (to name a few) use vinyl and they spin purely psytrance...
I like it, actually going to see Astral Projection this weekend:D. I think that it gets thrown in with trance in general and thats MIGHT be why you don't hear much about it..:conf: |

Yahel is mediocrity at its finest. It's not trippy; if i took it on 4 drops of acid i'd probably still yawn.
