is any one going to the 17th International Converntion on General Relativity and Gravitation in Dublin this week?
I heard Hawking has lost a bet. serves him right the bastard! he stole my chair at Cambridge.
sometimes i feel pretty stupid here, i couldn't imagine shootin the with those eggheads.

how's that project coming along anyways? i haven't heard anything mentioned about it in years. last i saw was an interview with Kip Thorne something like six years ago, and they were having major issues calibrating the set-up in california. hell, i don't even know if they've constructed the lab in australia yet.
time for some healthy searches:D
edit: before i sound like an idiot, i just read that they're working in washington and lousiana:clown: |

i kinda said that in jest b/c i barely understand it myself, but this is the most credulous defintion i've found for it. i just find it interesting http://www.laserphysics.org/gravity.ivnu
yesterday, Hawking announced to the world that he's been wrong all this time about how black holes absorb all information (matter/light) never to give it back. amthmatically he has come to the conclusion that they indeed have the ability to give up some of what they take in. in the world of einsteinian physics it's a very big deal. |

man, i just love how this stuff hurts my brain. the ability of these great ones to visualize an outcome and see if it's plausible is a true testament to the human potential.
i hope caltech and mit can get other countries on the bandwagon with this LIGO experiment.
hell, it could even shine some insight on this string theory craze of late:cool: |
