I don't normally write reviews, but I feel I have to. Those of you who have not given this night a chance are missing out. DJ Micro played a great set last night, but by 2:30am there were only about 25 people left in the club.

Good sound system, room to dance, great music. What else do you guys want?

I went to see DJ Hyper @ the docks, and there wasn't that many people there at all. I need more people there to give me a good vibe.

I dont understand how its not doing well... no promotion?

Then again they do need to start bringing in way bigger names especially with guv just blowing it apart. Lisa lashes looked to be the biggest so far

The Docks has brought some quality DJs but the thing is, I don't think people can really believe GODSKITCHEN is behind them and that you associate the Docks as a hardcore venue?

It's cool how it's big and spacious but when I think of the Docks, I don't see it as a place to dance/party all night like Boa or even the Guv.

The competition from other clubs this summer isn't helping their cause either? Don't forget, now Lucid has Ministry of Sound working with them and are bringing big names too but Lucid is pretty "upscale" compared to other clubs (i.e. strict dresscode and whatnot).

I feel bad for the promoters of the Docks. Obviously they have put a lot of money into revamping the place but perhaps the problem lies in the crowd. When I saw Eddie Halliwell a few weeks back, the people I saw there probably have no idea what "Heaven" and "Godskitchen" are all about?

I dropped by for a bit and was treated to some wicked tunes...

Bonham (sp?) played some banging techy prog, and micro blended very nicely into big room trance by the end. It's a shame that there isn't a bigger crowd, because with more people, this would absolutely be the best place to party in TO.

Lots of really hot girls too....:eyes: :eyespop: :eyes:

Peace,

WHat was said here b4 about the non-association of GOdskitchen with the Docks is verytrue.... it's just not known to be...yet.

There's another trouble with the DOcks tho... they don't treat themselves as a afterhours nightclub. WHen I was there to see Johan Gielen, I also was in the hip-hop room next door (cuz of my woman) and they were playing hip-hop/r&B/house till about 3am as i remember and they had some stupid "host" guy throwing out shirts and stuff to keep ppl "interested"... wtf is with that????? prizes??? what kind of crowd are they after???

The Heaven room is AWESOME for big-name DJs (although I'd like if the booth were closer to the crowd)... lots of room, a lounge area, nice bars, etc. The patio is sweet, and the facilities are great fun, but if the Docks is gonna house a Godskitchen type of party there, then they have to act the part a bit more. I'd only go back for big names that I know... unlike SystemS/Boa/Guv which have constant good talent in a great environment.
As for Lucid... I have yet to go there... I shall see.

DJ MICRO WAS AT THE DOCKS?!!
Sly_Guy
yeah no kidding. I don't feel sorry for the promoters. If I'd known about micro being at the docks and there were still only 25 pople in the club then maybe I would.

i was at the docks for eddy halliwel and the place was pretty much dead, i agree that the docks needs more promotion and more support. its a great club and is ideal for the summer.
to get a good vibe there needs to be more people in the club for sure. at times its the energy of the crowd that drives you. oh well maybe sooner or later godskitchen will be a place to be. i really hope so.
