I've tried doing a search but can't seem to find anything?

The reason I ask is because I've ordered Fire & Ice - EP which includes Never ending melody, Souvenir de chine and Heart & mind

Extended Play.

EP = Extended Play, it means a recording size between an album and a single. Usually has 2-6, sometimes more tracks and it can also include special versions of a same track which are limited to that EP only. Usually artists who have productions for more than one single but not enough for a whole album, release an EP (for example Petter - Six Songs EP). EPs can be released on 12", 10" and earlier they were released also on 7" vinyls and nowadays also on CD (for example BT's EPs)

LP = Long Play, full length album. Usually 12", but sometimes also CD albums get mentioned as LPs.

SP = Single Play, 7" single (not used much anymore).

I had a feeling it meant the tracks were edited/cut short - was hoping that wasn't the case

imo a good example of an EP is Paul van Dyk - Columbia EP (click title for details). It has the original Columbia track, a remake of it, plus 4 other tracks. Too many different tracks for being a single (single = 1 track, various versions) but not enough to be called an Album :)

In the Case of the Fire & Ice EP, i know for definate that Souvenir de Chine is edited by a few minutes, looses all power compared to the full version imo...
